How Many Bowel Movements?

How many bowel movements are considered normal for a four month old puppy who still eats three times a day? My pup seems to go an awful lot! It isn't diarrear but goes from soild to soft to solid again. Eating three times a day, I figured three movements, maybe four? what's normal?

I'm sorry, wish I could help you but, I don't remember how many they had as puppies. As adults my two dogs each have usually two bowel movements per day.
Normally a puppy will poop every time you feed them, which is why it helps with training if you take them out immediately after eatingl But the type of food you feed is also a factor. The more filler (cereal etc) a food has he more waste it produces. Treats and snacks will also increase the number.

If the pup is pooping them a short while later pooping again it may be that he didn't compeltely empty his bowel and you need to walk him longer after feeding. Check the ingredient list on your food, even some puppy foods have their #1 ingredient as "meal", if yours does you may have more than "normal" because of that.
He is transitioning to Wellness Puppy food. We are up at 5:30 am and he goes then and then again after eating around 8 am...then he's good until lunch time and goes before lunch, then again before dinner and then yet again before bed! I guess I should be glad he is going instead of not

He is also teething and I guess that's part of it too...I just worry about everything I guess!
Are you feeding "too much"? How old is he? If he is young I wouldn't think that was too too much. You may also be feeding a high bulk food.
It really can vary. Some poop only a couple times/day. Others, like my basset Simon, poop nearly every time he goes out! It is not a normal basset trait - just normal for him.
I think 4-6 times a day for a puppy is normal.
Tucker is five months and still goes 3 times a day. My adults go once or twice a day, usually twice.
