MY SHEEP DOG NEEDS A NEW HOME

I have recently become ill and no longer can care for my darling dog, Maddie. She is wonderful and registered. Help.

Thanks,

Karen,

I am so sorry to hear about your illness. Please contact the New England OES Rescue @ grannie.annie@neoesr.org

They will be more than happy to help you rehome your baby.
Karen,

Please pm me and tell me more about your sheep dog age, temperment , etc .,does Maddie get along with other dogs. Have you contacted her breeder to help you rehome her??? I am close to Baltimore and work with rescue.

Thanks
Cindy
Karen,

I am so sorry you are going through this. My sympathies are with you during this tough time and difficult decision.

A good rescue program evaluates dogs and homes and finds the best possible match for both! It took me more than 6 months for a rescue to find me the perfect dog for my situation back in 1992! They really mean it when they say "this time, it is all about the dog" when they make a placement.

NEOESR for instance, places about 80 dogs a year, so they are really expert in evaluation both dogs and homes. While you may find someone yourself who would like to take your dog, you might not find the perfect match, and then your dog may have to be re-homed again. This rarely happens with a good rescue program.

I wish you all the luck in the world making these tough decisions.

Let us know what you decide and how we can help, if at all.
I am so sorry that you are ill.

A rescue would be so much help to you right now, Best wishes.
Karen,

I am also very sorry that you are having health issues and also that you are forced to give up your beloved pet. It must be especially difficult to have to make this decision in addition to your health concerns.

I hope that you will contact the OES rescue suggested. I've read about really wonderful things happening through the rescues mentioned on this board.

I hope that you will stop back and let us know how you are doing, and how your dog is doing, as well.

Best wishes,

Terri
You know it just dawned on me that Mulligan has a "sister" named Madigan, who was re-homed we believe in Maine, but whose re-home had serious health issues. Last we heard (about a year ago?) they had decided to keep Maddie, but we have not been able to confirm this.

Maddie would be about 3 years old now.

Any chance this is the same Madigan?
Ron,

Here's your chance for that second sheepie to keep Mulligan company!
Thank you all so much for your kind replies in regard to Maddie and me. We both appreciate all of you. She is 5 years old and I have had her since she was a baby. She is not the other Madison. I am still in the process of finding out exactly what my personal situation is going to be and will then know better whether it is necessary to place Maddie. But thank you so much for all your help. I will post again soon....within a week to be more specific. Maddie loves everyone. Other dogs, kids, people. She is fun loving yet calm when necessary and trained by us and behaves very well. Nothing except maybe food makes her happier than to play. She is a GREAT dog and I love her very much.

Talk to you soon. Will try to post a picture.
DON'T WORRY; we will help you when the time is right -- or necessary. Maddie will be well taken care of and loved, I am personally making that assurance to you.
I hope you will be well enough to keep Maddie!
Also, have you thought of looking for a temporary home?
You are in our thoughts, Sue
