Amanda- You didn't say- puppy or an adult dog. Or does it matter? The contact info for the OES rescue in your area is

Hi Amanda,

I am Stormi, and a fellow OKIE, LOL. I live in Yukon. It was just a few weeks ago that a family let their 9 year old pair of OES go because of not wanting to move with them. Another member on the forum helped out a lot with giving me a contact to the Tulsa rescue and I passed on the information to the family wanting to give them away. If the woman did what she said she would the dogs should be in the Tulsa rescue now.
Your post didn't say puppy or adult dog, unfortunately my breeder has just retired her breeding pair and she won't be breeding for about another year. I have called about OES that show up in our newspaper, but these are breeders that don't believe in any preliminary testing to prevent possisbile problems.
A few years back, I went to one that had OES AND every other breed imaginable. The area was disgusting all dogs had a few feet of room to call their own, they were covered in feces and urine. THe pups that she was trying to sale were no different. Except at 7 weeks old, the pups couldn't walk or play. They seemed to have hearing loss. My husband and I were disgusted. A puppy mill in full force and there was nothing we could do.
I think you might have to drive a distance to get a puppy, or if an adult is good, call the Tulsa rescue that Brenda gave you the number too. I wish you all the best in your search for an OES. Please, keep us posted. I will keep my eyes and ears open to any leads. Good luck, Stormi and co.
Thank you for help with finding an OES. I really have no preference to either an adult or puppy. However, since I am still in college, I think an adult might be the best way for me, but I would take whatever I am lucky enough to come across!! Thanks again,
Amanda,

You can also go to www.petfinder.com

They list dogs who are in rescue, shelters and AC facilities. Most are UTD on shots, spayed/neutered, etc. It is a great place to find a new friend. I found Maggy on PetFinder. :D

You can enter your search criteria, breed as either Old English Sheepdog or sometimes there are some listed under "sheep dog". Enter your location, etc.

To broaden your search, enter "national."

Good luck in your search! Please keep us posted. :D
Thank you so much for the suggestion about going to petfinder...however, I can't seem to get the site to work. I can get other animals and breeds to come up, but when i type in old english sheepdog, i get nothing, i have even tried going to their breed list, and pushing on old english sheepdog and still i get nothing, there seems to be som malfunction between my computer and their database....but it is always something with computers.... but again, thank you, i appreciate the input!!!
Try this link:

No guarantees, but at least I'm not charging by the hour.

Also, sometimes petfinder won't come up with anything for you unless you put in your postal/zip code...
Amanda--

The PetFinder Admin is updating it's data base now, so please be patient. (although I am NOT! )

The kinks should be ironed out within the day. ::keeping paws crossed!::

LoL! Ron! You'd be a millionaire if you did charge!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR INFORMING ME!!!
I thought maybe there was something wrong with my computer! :)
That helps a bunch knowing they are just updating.

Thanks again
I was just in the Texas rescue site, texasoesrescue.com. They have a few cuties all of the sudden. I love Alfred. He looks a lot like Big Ben with his haircut.

I know Tulsa is quite a long distance but at least it may be an opportunity for you to check out! You never know, their foster home may be up in North TX...?

Good luck!
Hi Amanda

On Petfinder there is a boy named Gossamer, in Kirksville MO. He is adorable and he has a tail. I am not very good at getting the link in there, I will try..... http://www.petfinder.com/pet.cgi?action ... mpl=&stat=
Maybe that worked... Good luck, Stormi and co.
Does anyone know how i can better reach Mid-Atlantic OES rescue? I've sent some e-mails and i'm still waiting on a reply.
To where are you sending emails?
What state are you looking for?

Also, ahve you checked the rescue contacts available from the "links" link at the bottom of the page? They should be really current.

Anything else we might be able to help with?

Good Luck.
I just checked the petfinder site and it is working. I was heartbroken to see how many sheepdogs are there for adoption. How can people give them up? I don't get it. Don't they researche the breed??? I mean some of the reasons for their surender is just stupid! I wish I could get all of them. I think when Mopsey is older, I will get a rescue. There are just so many of them.
I was trying to reach betseyoes@aol.com, and that's the only info i can find. she is in balitimore, md and i'm in northern va.
i would like to adopt another, but mine was recently attacked by another dog and now she has become very timid. i would like to be able to meet the dog first and possible have her meet the other dog. my oes, emily, will only interact with other dogs she knows or ones that are in a house setting.
any info that anyone could provide me would be of great help.
thank you!
Contact Grannie Annie @ NEOESR and see if she can put you in touch with the Rescue in your area.

grannie.annie@neoesr.org

I know she talked to me about a dog available in Maryland recently - so I know she's in touch with them down there.

Good Luck!
Kristen
