diarrhea and eating stools

I know this isn't very pleasant but it is a problem we are having. My youngest OES (15 months) has been having problems with loose stools for the last 5 months. We had negative results at the vet when stools were tested. She did a round of antibiotics anyway... no help! She is on special food called DCO from Purina. It helped for a while but we are now back to square one. She also is a "poop eater" She actually waits until the other 2 dogs go out and runs to "clean up". We are trying to clean up ASAP and correcting her when she goes after it but we can't always catch her. I can't help but think the two are related. She is not loosing weight and she is very active and healthy. Any suggestions?

My friend had the problem of one of her dogs eating the "undesirable snack".
Her vet had her feed the other dog pineapple. Something about the end result made it less appelling.
Take her out on a leash to do her business. Have her go in a different area and clean it all up ASAP.
I agree with Guest I would only allow her to go out to poop on a leash and as soon as she is finished I would use the come command or use the leash to pull her back to you and clean up the poop.
We had a dog that did that.. but only in the winter, we used to say she was out eating "poopsicles" again. Gross.
Welcome from St. Louis (Ellisville). Barney had this problem and I was able to correct it with a combination of things: I put a pinch of Accent on both dogs' food. Accent which is monosodium glutimate, apparently is distastful in the waste; I also tried to clean up right away, and when I caught Barney sniffing the poo I would give a stern Ah,Ah (which I use instead of "NO")

I had a similar problem with loose bowels, when I was using Diamond; switched to Purina Pro Plan and stools firmed up nicely.

By the way, watch for my pm to you regarding our Sheepiepalooza.

Welcome to the forum :)

I'd say the loose stools might be because of her "snacking habits"

I haven't found anything that really works to get them to stop eating poop except for cleaning it up right away.
Panda is a poop eater, but luckily only her own so as long as I clean hers up right away it avoids the problem.
