Hi Everyone,

Those of you that have been on the boards for some time know I am constantly doing reno's. I read books about Home Repair constantly and my Black and Decker, How To Fix it book, is always close by. I watch all those home improvement shows with passion. These are some photos taken of some projects I've done the last 2 years. There's way more but I already have used up far too much space. Sigh, I even walk past the shoe department without so much a backward glance and head to the power tool section.

PS Please note all photos have pics of furballs in them too. Very Happy
Foster cat room..notice the well worn ugly stained carpet?

The new improved commercial tile flooring being installed which Willowboughby's mom kindly donated to me. It was pretty funny adding that gooey glue as I once lost my balance and fell backwards on my butt and got stuck to the floor> Excited

The computer room had the same ugly carpeting and here's Merlin first time he saw the new and improved room!

The former ugly rose colored carpet in the living room..sigh I know it looks brown!

The new and improved flooring done last year but this past weekend finally installed the baseboard molding (not nailed down yet) and finally purchased new furniture for the first time in 20 years! The big chair matches my new couch..yet to be sat on...Ha Ha.

Oh last one..who can forget the chuckles when Ron commented I had him in a box in my living room...aka my new toilet I installed last year...ha ha

Stay tuned for this weekends project ripping up carpet in Master Bedroom and installing new flooring.

Marianne

Cool Great Job Marianne! Everything looks so nice!
I am really impressed, M. I totally want to buy you some drinks

so i can get you drunk enough to do our kitchen flooring

the house really looks new and improved. good job! good picture of you too! pretty Very Happy
Marianne,
Great idea with the tile in the cats room. When I had my cats I put vinyl flooring in their room. I did have carpeting, but they had ruined it very quickly Evil or Very Mad
I love the living room and the computer room, they look wonderful, .
So did Merlin approve? He looks like he was doing a very thorough job visually inspecting the job.
Wonderful pictures! You're great at re-modeling and the new room will be such a success! We have a tiled kitchen and I absolutely love it. It is so easy to keep clean.
Wow! You are ambitious! Looks beautiful!
I seriously need you to come visit me for a few weeks just to motivate me to get all the work done around here that needs doing. You are fantastic at remodeling.
(Help! Help! Let me out!)
WOW are you for hire? Shocked Laughing
Marianne you did a great job ! ClappingPurple You should be totally proud of yourself ....

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for the comments! Very Happy

As a weekend home reno warrior, it's always catch 22...you either have the time or the $. All 9 furkids and my son depend on my income so money is always tight which is why I learned how to do it myself.

Some stuff I have to save my pennies for until I can purchase the item, then have to find time to install it. That "Ron" box aka toilet sat in my dining room for months as I couldn't install the new toilet and sink until I figured out how to do the bathroom floors. Home Depot offers free courses on how to stuff and I highly recommend people taking the courses. I learned how to install a sink, toilet and laminate flooring and watching the HGTV (home reno shows).

I was off for spring break so tried to catch up on projects. Last night I was ripping up carpet in my bedroom (the last place upstairs that has carpet) and hopefully will finish the laminate this evening.

To make my life easier in the long run I wanted pet friendly floors..I lived with those rose colored and grey carpets carpets on our rainy west coast and three muddy dogs for several years. The last 21 days it's rained nonstop and only another 25 cm of rain and we'll have broken the record for wettest March in history. Grrrr!

The last room to be completed upstairs is my pink kichen..yes Darcy, I'll get to it!!! Can't afford anything major at this time so I just painted the kitchen cupboards and purchased new hardware for them. As for the ugly green leaved motif on the kitchen counters I probably have to live with them another year..who knows if I wait long enough they may come back into style? Let Me Think About That

Marianne and the boys
That looks wonderful marianne!! I do ours too - never enough money and even if I did have it - I'm too cheap to spend it paying someone else!! Laughing Laughing

I love the flooring. I say this as I sit here waiting for my just-shampooed ancient carpet to dry! It will take awhile - we are in the big watchbox for severe weather this afternoon. Boohoo- more rain, more mud. I just hope nothing severe happens - like they are forcasting. Sad
I want that cute kitty...LOL

Very impressive that you've been able to do all that work. I am beginning to think I would have to go and do it myself too, in order to get some changes around here.

I love that paint color you have as well, very trendy taupe.
Great job Exclamation Exclamation Looks beautiful
Thanks!

Daisy it's soft green wallpaper but I thought the same thing as you..hey it looks nice in the photo! Sadly the original owner loved the stuff and wallpapered the entire house ..over drywall without properly preparing it first. Crying or Very sad As a result when trying to remove it, the drywall comes off in a crumbly mess and the wall remaining is left one giant glue ball. Shudders!

Then again that is what I meant about things coming back into style as that color is nice and I've always like it. I've lived with it for 10 years. Still have to remove it someday as in many places the wallpaper is frayed and torn. It took me months to remove it and fix the walls in my bedroom (weekends) and spackle the walls..horrible job!

Some day I'm going to tackle the living room, dining room and staircase..gives me the willies just thinking about it! Priorities first however as the next couple weekends I'll be fixing the backporch as the stairs came apart from the header on the porch! Gasp a nightmare when that's the only access to the backyard and with three dogs!

Anyhow I'm rambling! Thanks to all of you I really appreciate all the comments and I really mean it..if I can do it anyone can!

Marianne and the boys
I know all about that. In our first house, the owners painted over wallpaper. The house was entirely pink,...well we had to change that.

So we started to remove the wallpaper underneath. It had so many layers of paint, but finally got the shiny 1970's metallic orange flowery wallpaper off. And it was glued directly to paper on the original drywall.

So we lost chunks of drywall too. Our solution...a knockdown plaster effect...it looked great and ended up very durable. Esp because it was the hallway and entrance.
Wow--I'm very impressed! We're in the middle of just doing some small home fix ups to sell our house and those are hard--I can't imagine trying to do all you've done.

Oh, and I can't believe Darcy didn't even make a comment when you said you had to walk past the shoes without even a glance... Cool
Looks GREAT Marianne!!!!!!!!!!
Daisy - wow than you can relate about wallpaper on dry wall...&%%^$ grumble grumble.. Laughing The kitten was adorable wasn't he? You can see why I can't turn down pleads from the SPCA to help foster when they are overcrowded.

Barney - Yup, can't believe Darcy didn't make a peep about bypassing the shoes either...she must still be speechless. Shocked Good luck with the sale of your house!

Taskers Mom - Thanks! Very Happy

PS- Ron I took you out of the box in the summer! You now have a special place in my throne room...or however people refer to it. Wink

Marianne
Fabulous job Marianne! I love all the reno pics Smile

We're replacing the flooring in the upstairs bedrooms with laminate now. It's actually sitting in the livcing room, waiting for Mike to umm... get time to install it Embarassed Laughing ! Always seems like there is something to do!!!

I feel your wallpaper pain! Every wall (and some of the ceilings) in my house is wallpapered, some vene have been painted over the wallpaper. We're trying to remove the ugly gold foil wallpaper from the dining room. Did I mention that the dining room, like every other wall in the house is plaster?

Did I mention that the plaster wasn't prepared properly when they papered it?

Nothing like pulling off pieces OF YOUR WALL, when trying to get off wallpaper. Sigh!
That looks great!!!
the second picture looks like it could be an Ad... lol
