Sheepiepalooza is coming!

Sheepiepalooza is scheduled for May 26-27 in St. Louis.

Event times have been finalized. George and I have had quite a few inquiries already from people interested in attending. Since the event is scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend we would encourage anyone thinking of attending to making a hotel reservation early. Feel free to PM us for a list of pet friendly hotels.

Harry would like to give you the first sneak peak at Sheepiepalooza:

The first event will be a Meet & Greet at Lucky Dog. It is a pet boutique in the heart of Webster Groves, a suburb of St. Louis with beautiful century old homes and small town charm. Lucky Dog has a fenced grass courtyard just waiting for sheepies to romp in.

Here is Harry looking out the window where he likes to watch the trains go by whenever he visits.

Image

Harry is one of shop owner Beth's favorite customers and she loves to give him treats when he comes in to the store. Being a former sheepdog owner herself, Beth is anxiously awaiting the event so she can hug all the sheepies.

See you at Sheepiepalooza!

I just wanted to wish you and George best wishes for a successful Sheepiepalooza!
Too far for us to travel..... but we will be thinking of you.

Harry is such a character. I love the pictures.
Lucky Dog indeed! Those are such cute pictures! Sounds like so much fun. I am really hoping we can make it. . .
oh that looks like a fantastic place..wish panda and i could come!! you all have tons of fun!
baaaaah sounds so much fun!!

Wish We can come too :(
Yeah! Oliver, my husband, and I are going! We are so excited!
I hear that their may be a special sheepie going to Sheepiepalooza.

Image

London and I are going to try and make it. And oh yeah - Sam and Lucky too!

Hey Betsy - want to go with us? Ingrid is going to be there and with all the fostering I do for her thought it would be nice to meet her and a lot of the other forum members that I chat with.

If I can drive 10 hrs each way to come and visit - anyone want to come and meet us (ok I know most of ya'll just want to meet London, but we will pretend you want to meet the rest of us too)
This is a one time offer everyone - to see Wynette carrying a full grown sheepdog in person! Without the aid of a baby carrier!
I checked with all the hotels and Super 8 is where I made our reservations. $59.95 a night plus a $10 surcharge per dog - no limits on the # of dogs or weight or size limitation.

EconoLodge has a limit of 2 dogs per room as does Holiday Inn.

The lady at EconoLodge said they only have limited # of rooms left due it being a holiday weekend and they are fairly near Six Flags. Look forward to seeing all the sheepies there and other forum members. Finally will get to put some faces to some names.
Made mine too!
Murphy, Bella and Elliott are very excited also  Murph is very excited about seeing brother Barney :yay: I wonder if they will recognize each other :? Can't wat to meet everyone, is ther a count yet on how many are comming?
I'm jealous, I wanna go, toooooooo far to travel. :(

Now when you all get together, PHOTOS PALEEEEASE of the day for us foreigners. 8)

Hope you all have a wonderful time, sounds like it is going to be so much fun. :D

Love the photo of Harry up at the counter, he looks like a teddy bear and a spoilt one at that
Lisa,

I wonder if we can arrange an on line life hook up like Westminister does? :D
I am STILL trying to get off work!!!!!
Hey Judi and George, I think we have finally cleared our schedules to come! We are very excited, and it looks like you all have so much fun stuff planned! It's all the cool doggy things that I have wanted to do in St. Louis, but never gotten the chance! And I am so excited to meet some more forum people in person! I have the brochure on my fridge, so I'll try to remember to send that back this week. (Good job, by the way - the brochure looked great!)
Now, after reading this, it sounds like we need to hurry up and make a hotel reservation!

Also, are people bringing their non-sheepies too? I didn't know if we should bring Lambda or leave her with someone at home....

I'm definitely bringing Bear, too. Clyde and Bear prefer to work as a team. Lucy will only be coming if James comes too. It'll be a nice break from the boys for her!
Sheepie siblings are most definitely welcome!

I just assumed that Bear and Lambda were coming. And if Dawn ever gets off work she can bring Simon too!
Oh yay, I'm glad! I have always wanted to meet Bear!
Kind of funny...at a Sheepie meeting the big attraction will be seeing the Komondor live and in person
OMG you can't tell London that everyone wants to go just to meet Bear. I told her the whole gathering, parade, etc... was all in her honor.
Well Judi, I guess we ought to have two grand marshals for the parade:
Bear and London. :D
Hey George will you help me with some training tips with London while I am there?
Better than that, my trainer will be there Sunday acting as the judge for Barney giving the Open Demo.
Bear is touched by everyone's interest in him. He said he'll try hard not to disappoint!
I may have found some people to work for me!!! I may get to come!!!
It involves 2 nurses covering parts of my 12 hr shifts, and one is an LPN. My nurse mgr (our unit boss) needs to see if the mix is OK to have an LPN cover, but I hope it works... I am trading Easter weekend to get Memorial Day weekend off - and she really wants to go with family out of town on Easter.
There is hope   !
Good news; hope things work out; we look forward to your coming. :D
I still plan on coming but...dh says too far to drive for one weekend. He is such a drag. So it looks like it will be me and the dogs. No problems!!! Can't wait to meet everyone. Do we have a spot to meet yet??? Pam aka Simon's Mom

email us at sheepiepalooza@hotmail.com and Judi will send you registration forms, locations of dog friendly motels (make reservations asap since they are near Six Flags which will be open that weekend and Purina Farms, which has obedience trials that weekend also), locations of various venues and maps (when I get them finished).
I am 1 step closer to coming. One of the nurses is covering for sure - just need a call back from the other one!! If I can come, LeAnne and Clay may also come.
Are most of you staying at the Super 8? I will make my reservation as soon as I know my shifts are covered. :D

We are! That place is going to be packed with dogs!
Okay I am going to have to hang out at the Super 8! LOL

I am looking into the bars that allow the dogs in the Soulard area. Rumor has it that there are three that allow you to bring pooches into their patio areas. So after they have run themselves ragged at the dog park Saturday night we will have to have a nightcap!

Don't tell Bear! Koms have an affinity for wine, according to his foster mom!
Bear can sit by me at the bar and "help" me drink my wine when Mom is not looking.
Or better yet I will sit by you and drink and someone else can babysit my dogs.
A beer for Barney, Maggie prefers Scotch. Looks like our shoopeypoleezza will be a lot of funnn. :D
Nothing for Clyde-- he used to have a drinking problem.
Imagine that: a sheepdog on the wagon!
Hmmmm, Chewie will just be legal (1yr old :D ) so maybe a Tom Collins??
It's on!! I got confirmation from my boss that my shifts are covered, so I made my reservations (at the Super 8!). We are in. :D

The plan has a couple versions. Plan 1 is coming with my friend Mary . LeAnne and her new hubby Keith will come too and drive seperately, and stay seperately (their wedding IS the weekend before!) I will bring Chewie and Simon the basset.

Plan B is if Keith can't get off work (retail, big shopping weekend) - then LeAnne will ride with me and Mary and stay with us too. She will bring Clay too.

We plan to drive down on Friday eve - is anyone else going to be there Friday night?? It sounds like a blast!
check with LorieD they are driving in from PA and might be coming in Friday. Will be staying at the nearby Holiday Inn. You can PM her from her post on page 1 of this thread.
I am driving in on Friday as it is going to be a 10-12 hr drive (depends on how many stops the dogs need to make).
I think we're coming in on Friday night. Jil (floofdog) and I are both going but I think we have to take separate cars on the count of 3 boys in one car for 8 hours may be too much-- for all of us!
Ok I made reservations. Friday and Saturday. As I was making reservations, dh yells from the kitchen that if I'm going then he's going. To some this may seem like a good thing. From now till we get home on May 27th he will be ragging on me that this is not fun, not a good idea, costs too much money etc. And here I thought I was going to have fun....Pam

:yay: Yay! Dawn you did it! :yay:

Hey all you Friday night people I will have to come out to the Super 8 so you don't start partying without me! 8)
Judi, Maybe we should have a preregistration party Friday evening, maybe the Holiday Inn, or I'm only 15 min from the hotels, we could have it at my house.

Incidentally there are two more pet friendly hotels available: Comfort Inn (636-257-4600) $109.99+$10 pet fee; and Quality Inn (636-257-8400) $94.99+$15 pet fee; both at I-44 Exit 257, Pacific MO. these are about 4 miles west of the Holiday Inn, Super 8, and Econolodge, which are at exit 253.
  PARTY! PARTY! PARTY!

Thanks George, unless the drivers are too tired to drive a little further than I vote for your house. It will give the "kids" a place to run off their energy after the long drive.

Get the maps ready, George!

Dawn, Lorie D, Wynette, Jill, Jil and Pam let me know what kind of drinks you prefer and I will get the refreshments!
Wow - this event is shaping up to be a really great PARTY!! I am looking forward to all the pictures!! :D
Mapquest says it's 9 hr and 2 minutes. Even though they usually over estimate, it will take that long (at least) for potty stops and a meal or 2. And walking around a bit to prevent DVT's ( phlebitis or blood clots) - I know, the nurse in me is still there!

So after all that time, I'm sure we will be game for any beverage you have!
And I vote for George's house too - if you really want all of us invading. 8O
yay, this is going to be a party, i'm excited!

Weren't they going to be working on the interstates this year? Anything we should look out for or avoid? (of course, that could all change by the end of May, I suppose)

We are still debating where to stay... last time we stayed at Westport with Callie and we really liked that hotel (I think it was a Comfort Inn)... and it's in the middle of the other St. Louis stuff that we will be doing before/after Sheepiepalooza. But I wasn't sure if the construction would make the drive from there to Eureka (270 to 44) difficult enough that we should just stay out in Eureka... (of course the high concentration of sheepies in one place is always an incentive for me to stay out there...) Any thoughts George or Judi?
Cristin,

You probably want to avoid Hwy 40 once you are in St. Louis. That is where they are doing the work. And I always hate 270. So if you stay out in Eureka then you will be able to do everything we have planned up and down the 44 corridor. And that would also get you to Forest Park if you were planning on doing anything there before and after.

But the main reason to stay out near Eureka is to be "Where the Sheepies Are". Can't you just hear Connie Francis singing now? I know Cristin, Connie who? You are too young! Actually I am too young as well for Connie Francis but I am dork so I know these kinds of things.
Ohhhhh I can see it now!!! This is going to be soooo much fun. Even with dh there. Judi I'm filling out my registration and sending it now. WHOOPEEE...Pam
Thanks Judi, that's what I wanted to know. Now I have more info for convincing husband to stay 'all the way out there'. hehe

p.s. - I know the song... I like old music too :-)

...and now it is stuck in my head.... gee thanks! :x
For all who are coming in for the event, here is a map of the Saturday Venues. Also included is a map to my house for those who are coming in Friday. Any questions don't hesitate to pm or email me, or sheepiepalooza@hotmail.com. This is a PDF file and should print out to 8½x11.

Registration Form and Schedule of events:

I have placed a PDF file (sheepregister.pdf) containing schedule of events and registration form in my photos. The link to the file is:

http://photos.oes.org/albums/userpics/1 ... gister.pdf

There are no costs for any of the events other than parking, unless you choose to purchase anything at any of the pet stores, or choose to order a souvenier towel.

If you wish to have copies of these forms mailed please indicate this at sheepiepalooza@hotmail.com. Please do complete the registration form, expecially if you plan to come to the BBQ or the Friday night gathering so we know how much to prepare.

George.
OMG! You sure have a fun weekend planned! I had no idea! I'm sorry that we're going to miss out. HAVE A BLAST!
I will let everyone know our departure as the time grows nearer. I know we will be there by Fri. night. My 3 will drink anything, I have to keep an eye on murph though, after 3 drinks he thinks he is such a lady's man  We are so excited about comming :!:
George and Judi, how many people are registered? Steve and I wll talk this week inbetween arguing about all the work going on in the bathroom:D I will need to call my new Manager and ask her for a vacation day on Friday. I think she'll be okay with it since it's a holiday weekend anyway.
Stacy,

I have at least 8 forum members committed besides me and George. But I actually think it might be more like 11 forum members due to some earlier correspondence I received at sheepiepalooza.com. Plus I received a PM yesterday from another forum member who wants to come. Don't forget, that is members not dogs. When you consider that Val, Jill and Dawn are bringing two dogs and Wynette three! Well then it is even more.

I think it would be worth the trip to watch Wynette carry around a full grown sheepdog like a baby and to see Bear's cords in person. Not to mention seeing Chummie, the wonder dog!

Will she be wearing her cape or traveling incognito? :D
I have a friend...Yea I know weird huh...any way she has a sheepie and I told her about Sheepiepalooza which started a discussion about oes.org AND she got very interested AND she signed up as a member AND is coming to Sheepiepalooza!!! She introed herself as Barkley's Mom in the intro section. At least I'll see a familiar face while there...Hi Doreen
Welcome, welcome .... the more the merrier.

George and I are meeting next Thursday at Purina Farms and I will be contacting all of our gracious hosts of our Saturday venues to let them know we have lots of energetic sheepies attending.

I am pleased to announce that OES Rescue Network Southeast has accepted our offer to be the recipient of the proceeds raised in the sale of our souvenir Sheepiepalooza towels. So please send in reservations early and don't forget to order towels to help a sheepie in need. I need to submit my best estimate as to the amount of requested towels by May 1 in order to guarantee arrival in time for Sheepiepalooza. So the earlier you have your form back the better.

Some sheepies frequently need their cold dripping beards wiped (Harrington  ) and those rain soaked paws wiped as well (yes, Harrington again   )

The 16" x 26" white towels will feature the Sheepiepalooza logo in gray with the slogan:

"I got wiped at Sheepiepalooza"
Judi,
Don't forget to order a couple of towels for my guys. Since Maggie has a puppy cut I'll use hers to wipe my beard. But Barney definitely needs his own. :D
I have plans on being there with Zippy as well as my husband and my brother, who flies in on the Friday. I will be getting my registration form in asap and will be possibly be getting 3-4 towels, although I will know for sure when I send the registration form.

Zippy turned 13 last month and I know she will love to meet all the other sheepies!
You guys are going to have such a great time :!:
I just came through St Louis a few weeks ago, and just about all Motel 6's allow dogs. I am not sure if there is a limit to how many dogs.
Well, we won't be attending :( I'm so sorry! There has just been too much commotion going in our lives and a lot of project Steve wants to tackle Memorial Day weekend. Not to mention that he reminded me I wanted to have a birthday party for Annie's TENTH birthday at the end of May. I know you will all have a blast. Maybe next year we can swing it.
We'll miss you Stacy, but family comes first.
Stacey, just tell him that we are all throwing Annie a huge birthday party in St Louis, MO.

LOL! Chum likes to make her presence known. 8O I can't wait! This going to be so much fun. I will get the registration in once I have a printer rigged up. . .

Too bad you can't make it Stacy (and anyone else who has opted out). We would have loved to have seen you.
I agree - Annie's tenth birthday should be done in a big way!!!

Annie wouldn't have made the trip with us due to her neurosis and issues! However, it might have been a nice birthday present to be away from Fozzie and to stay with Grandma :D

Annie's birthday invitation will have stipulations "Uprights ONLY" and "You must be over 4 feet tall"
Here is the first photo of an excited attendee. London sent this to us with the help of her mom Wynette.

Jerry Garcia's Deadheads were never this cute!

Image

Isn't she a lovely spokesmodel for Sheepiepalooza and for the OES Rescue Network?
Love the London advertising! :D

I just found out from LeAnne that she and Keith got the time off, so they will both be coming with Clay. They are making their reservation at Super 8 today!!
We hope to leave Friday fairly early in the morning, to get there in plenty of time to enjoy ourselves!!!  :D
(About a 9 hr drive for us - without counting stops)

I can't wait to meet Clay too! I am glad they were able to get time off!
So, what's the attendance count now?
I have not registered yet, but there will be three people coming and three sheepies. Assuming nothing comes up. It will take us 8 hours plus stops from Norman, OK.
George, are you going to have a get-together Friday night?
We will be staying at my girlfriends sister's house.
Kim,

Just counting the forum members that have declared their plans on this thread, including you there will be more than 12 members with an estimated 20 dogs coming. Yes the Friday night "warm up" is scheduled. If you click on the two links I posted earlier they include a map to my house and the Saturday venues, along with a scheduled of events Saturday and Sunday, and registration form. If you need directions to any of the events from your sister's house, either let me know or use microsofts maps & directions or one of the other services. Presently we are anticipating over 50 dog owners at the events. Should be one heck of a parade.

Here are the links again to the map and registration form/schedules:

Hey guys!
I have been so out of the loop on here. I read about the Sheepiepalooza the other day and can't wait to go!!! I think I will try the Super 8 for my reservations as well. It's about 780 miles for us from NC. I plan on arriving sometime Friday night and possibly staying until Monday. Can't wait to see everybody from the forum!
Hi everyone ,We will be leving for the trip on Thur. morning and are staying at the Super 8 :)
Barney can relax now, knowing that Lorie is bringing his brother to see him. :D

How cool that Barney gets to see his brother! :D
Harry is back with a second sneak peek at Sheepiepalooza:

The second and third events will be held in the Central West End. It is an area adjacent to Forest Park filled with century old brick homes with shops, boutiques and restaurants mixed in.

Harry relaxed with his mom and dad while we ate lunch at a sidewalk cafe. Then he visited some of the stores participating in the Sheepie Shopping Game. Here he is with his dad at Llywelyn's Pub.

Image

Here is Harry in front of Wolfgang's Pet Stop where the afternoon Yappie Hour will be held.

Image

Once inside, he had a hard time selecting fresh baked treats but he got help from Paul who is one of the owners.

Image

Afterwards he went for a stroll along the residential streets while mom and dad viewed the houses. It was a busy but fun afternoon for a sheepie.

Just four more weeks until Sheepiepalooza!
Don't know if I was included in the count or not, but Oliver and I are coming too. We are also bringing my sister Shelly, and her Airedale, Hercules, if that's okay??? I told her you guys didn't discriminate.
That's OK. At least Hercules will look more sheepie-like than Simon the Basset Hound!

And I can't wait to see baby Oliver Twist. :D
Okay by my last count the following siblings and cousins will also be in attendance at Sheepiepalooza:

Simon (Basset Hound), Bear (Komondore), Taylor (Golden Retriever), Lambda (Pug) and Hercules (Airedale).

I hope I didn't miss anybody.

Harry has already met Lambda and he liked her a lot more than she liked him. Callie was like a typical big sister "Nobody can pick on Lambda but me" LOL
Judi,
What great picture of Harry. I :hearts: the one of him up on the counter looking at the treats. That picture is classic. :)
Quote:
Harry has already met Lambda and he liked her a lot more than she liked him.

LOL, that may be different this time. Lambda has learned how to be the stereotypical little sister. She knows just how to push a sheepie's buttons (biting the back of its heels, jumping up and grabbing its beard, etc.) and then stand under the sheepie belly, just out of reach. She certainly drives Callie and Sadie crazy (in that loving little sister way, of course) - we'll see what Harry thinks about all that! 8O haha

By the way, I love that picture of Harry looking at the counter. So cute!! Looks like a furry kid! oh wait, that's just what he is!!
I haven't registered yet but we (my husband, daughter and I) are planning on attending. We'll be sheepieless so I hope some of you will let me love on yours!

We've thought about bringing our Wheaten mix but I'm afraid I might give him a complex!! 8O
Hey Missing Murphy,

I am bringing 4 dogs - I could use all the help I can get with them.
Quote:

WOO HOO!! :yay: I'm your gal!!
Oh, I am so excited! What a parade this is going to be!
Count on at least two people from Indiana plus at least three (maybe four) OES. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
Be sure to get that registration in and check for souvenier towel benefiting OES Rescue, and please let me know how many uprights will be at the BBQ.
I still need to send in my form but I am planning on attending ALL the events. I can't wait!
I'm so jealous! Wish I could come but I checked again and it's still 1500 miles. We're driving over 1000 miles in June to go to Wyoming for a mixed breed dog trip, just can't pull off two trips like that in less than a month :( Maybe next year :D
been humming and hawing about going to this.. still on the fence..
Want to go but not sure wether we will be able to or not.. so for right now mark Argi & myself the kids Bell and Guiness as tentative.. we still thinking about it ..
I got my reservations at Super 8. I was looking at some sites today and saw that they now full. I made me a hair appointment for next week and SamSun has a hair appointment the week after so we will look pretty when we meet everyone... :P
Bump! Back to the top of the post.
My Sheepdog went wild (literally, do dogs get the meaning of these things or just our excitement?) when I told him that (barring work requirements) we would be going to the Sheepie Palooza this month. We had to have a 20 minute run in the backyard to celebrate! It will be a 2000 mile drive (roundtrip) for us (guess he gets to herd all cars on the interstate from the back seat!) all the way from Jacksonville, Florida...yikes at the slobber factor here! Three towel time.

Gotta get the work thing figured out...but hey, he and I need a vacation! And what better way to do it then be with many Sheepdogs and meet with fellow wonderful owners!

Would someone be so kind as to send a map, hotel and event info? Plus, has anyone traveled a long way with a Sheepdog and would you be so kind as to give advice?

My what a trip (literally and figurativelly) this will be!

OK, fess up with advice and info!

With great expectations, we remain,

Chris and Shaggy D

PS do our dogs get a chance to finally herd something other than other dogs at this event? Given that Shaggy will herd all (well most) of the dogs at the dog park into a tight pack, I wondered if there would be an opportunity to do what these wonderful dogs are made to do ie herd Sheep! If not hearts.
All this happiness is making it hard for those of us who can't come. Ok we could come, but a ten day drive is a bit much. I know that someone is looking at the map and thinking that a drive from Alaska would not take that long. You are right, my father once made it in three days from Fairbanks, but it was not pretty.

Never the less, have tons and tons of fun and little storming.
7skydive wrote:

I have! I did a round-trip, cross-country trip with my 2 sheepdogs last fall and I have lots of tips! I did a rough map of my route on the computer and planned stops every few hours. I used www.dogfriendly.com to find dogparks and dog-friendly hotels. If dogfriendly didn't have a dog park listed, I would google a town name and "dog park" to find places. Keep in mind that with stops for exercise and food, it adds a couple hours to however many hours you planned to drive that day.

Your route will take you right through Nashville Tennessee -- there is a great dog park there -- Centennial Park. It is in the west corner of the park at 31st ave and Parthenon Ave. Not sure what your budget is, but the Lowe's Hotel near that park was the best hotel I stayed in on the whole trip.

To be on the safe side, be sure to bring plenty of dogfood, a container for water, food bowls, towels (just in case), poop bags, extra leashes and collars, pictures of your dog, and his vet records. I also bring along doggie beds.

My other piece of advice is to get a GPS if you don't have one already. It was invaluable in finding hotels, gas stations, dog parks, etc. It would have been so much harder without a gps because you would have to print out and read all of those directions.

If you don't plan on getting GPS, try google maps because now you can save locations to your own "personal map" and also do multi-destination routing.

Can't wait to meet you! We will be driving about the same distance from Colorado. . .
For acclimating your dog, take him for as many car rides as possible. I know the hotter weather down there will limit the errands he can ride along with though!

Chewie and Simon are veteran travellers, so I am not anticipating too much trouble. We make frequent stops, go for walks. Both are used to pottying in strange places - this can be a real hangup for lots of dogs! We bring water from home - helps prevent upset stomachs. They have done several 7 hr one-way trips, so the extra hours for this one should be manageable. And Simon is getting his teeth cleaned on Tuesday before we leave, so the bad doggie breath over my shoulder should be history! :D
I'm so super jealous of everyone attending this event!! George & Judi have done an outstanding job planning it and I just know it's going to be the Sheepie Event of the Season.

Awww, Tammie. You are so sweet in your southern manners calling it the event of the Sheepie season. LOL

Let's not hand out any quick praise until we make it through with hopefully dry weather.
Come on and go with us Tammy!! I'm sure Beau and Genevieve would love to see SamSun again. My Trailblazer will hold 3 sheepies! :D :D
Chauncey & I want to come, but is too long a drive for us alone ( I'm not suppose to drive and Chauncey's driving has scared me on several occasions-he want's to drive on the left 8O ). Bob has to work. It sounds fabulous! Did I mention we want to come
Oh well....can we still order a towel?
You can order a towel. I can PM you with details.

Thanks, Tammie. We'd love to join you on the road trip. 8) Unfortunately for us, I have a conflicting obligation which I cannot change. Next time, though.
Chauncey & I would love to come, however I can't drive that far. Chaunce & and I are willing to put on the ole driving caps, get into the beemer and head west...but he has this habit of driving on the left ( darn British ).
This sounds like it is going to be a blast!
We are coming!!! :yay: My sister in law (not a dog person , but loves me!!) will come with me.........I am so excited :clappurple: I just need to figure out how to get where and when etc. Did I say I am excited :excited:
4dognight, are you bringing all 4? My golden is coming and he promised to lower himself and act like a silly sheepei for a few days.
Just me and my sheepie (plus my SIL) the rest will get a vacation from Guinness. My older Lab just had major surgery so she will rest. BUT I am excited :excited: Did I tell anyone that!!

None. This is our first attempt. And I will tell all of you now and repeat it Sunday; it would never have been the success it is without Judi
Yay - the more the merrier!!!

I hate those dumb nametags, but I'm starting to think we may need them - for humans and the dogs!
Nametags was one of the first things we thought about, but if you put the forum ID, and the name and the names of the persons dogs on one tag, some of us will be wearing billboards! :D
I'm all for billboards. 8O

:D
Kim asked for a current count of forum members and dogs:

The follow is subject to further amendment by Judi, who is keeping track of reservations:

As of May 9th: I have 21 forum members, including Judi and me, representing 15 states: CO, KS, LA, MI, PA, TN, MN, WI, IL, MO, OK, NC, MD, IN, & FL. for a total of 33+/- dogs including some siblings. If everyone shows up Fri. eve. for the warm up my back yard will be paved with Sheepies (and a few other things  ).

I would love a picture of the expressions on your neighbor's faces when they glance over and see the herd in your yard
He gang I found a BIG MISTAKE on the map for Saturday's first event. It should read Exit 280 not 380 (Get off at 380 and you'll be halfway to Indianapolis :( ) Please correct your map.

Actually, I'd strongly suggest that he invite the neighbors...;)
Good idea Ron, Maybe they'll reciprocate and let us spill over into their yards. They have a trompoline - wouldn't that make for some good sheepie pictures!!! Actually I have one neighbor who is looking forward to it.
Always invite your neighbors to a party -- they won't complain to the police if they were invited. :D
Just wanted to let everyone know too, that the St. Louis Zoo is amazing! I believe it is supposed to be one of the best in the US, and it is FREE! Unfortunately, I don't believe dogs are allowed though.
Just been reading all the posts and sounds like it will be a wonderful time for all, so have FUN and don't forget to get lots and lots of pictures to show us :D
We have an extra room at the Super 8 in Eureka that we won't be needing. Our friends turned "hoity-toity" on us and decided to stay at a more upscale hotel. :sidestep:

We can cancel the room but someone mentioned that the motel is booked so I thought I'd throw it out here for anyone interested.

All the fun's going to be at the Super 8 so if anyone is interested, just PM me.
Yes it was hoity-toity me!! 8O We are staying in Chesterfield for a week so we can see the sights. This place has more room and a pool. Anyone else staying in that area????
No way. All the cool people are at the Super 8, Zsa Zsa.
Well I guess I am just HOT!!! I really made the move because we needed extra days and this place has a shuttle to area attractions in case my sister in law stays behind while I am doing sheepie things. I feel so unhip right now................
LOL, we are the cool Super8-ers too. :D
It will be fun, can't wait!!
TRAFFIC ALERT - I-44 BETWEEN GRAY SUMMIT AND I-270

The following is a quote from an article in today paper (Post Dispatch) about a recent fatality along this stretch of highway. Since most will be travelling through this area several times next week-end, please drive defensively and keep your distance from the big rigs.

Quote:
The I-44 corridor between Interstate 270 and Gray Summit in Franklin County has been considered one of the most dangerous in the state. At least 19 crashes with 33 deaths have been reported since 2000 along that 25-mile stretch of road, according to research by the Post-Dispatch.

Long term weather forcast: rain Thursday and Saturday, highs: 70-80°. However I've recruited the power of the Passionist nuns to change that.
George
George, I for one totally appreciate your traffic updates, although they're NOT helping with the excitement factor, LOL!

I've put the 10-day St Louis weather outlook in my favorite places and they're currently calling for scattered T-storms on Sunday and scattered showers on Monday.

Personally, I don't think the sheepie gods will allow rain during Sheepiepalooza!

This morning in the shower - where I do my best thinking - I was wondering how many of us would actually meet at rest stops?!?!

Woo Hoo!

Okay, I've GOT to think about something else.
LOL, I hadn't thought of the rest stop scenario!!
Although I think we are the only ones doing the MN/IA route.
:( :(
