Female Dog Names

So everytime we rescue a female dog we all stare at each other blankly while trying to think of a cute name. Our last 2 female dogs were "Sprinkles"(which I try to name every dog.. and it finally passed!) and "Pete" so we clearly are in need of some help... so let's hear some cute names for the ladies!

Lila would be a good girl dog name
Lilo & Stitch! LOL
Lila reminded me of that...

You wouldn't run out for a long time if you stuck with Disney names...
There is the ever un-imaginative "Lady." Zuzu--from "It's A Wonderful Life"--I love that name. My mom had a friend named Arvella which I think would be hysterical for a dog, especially a bulldog. I like the old-timey female names--Josephine, Agnes, etc.--for dogs. Flowers--Ivy, Daisy. Rose, Petunia (love Petunia). You could name a dog after your favorite teacher or mentor.

Can you tell I like people names for animals?
hmmm .... lets see..

1. darcy seems to work but it comes with an automatic shoe fetish it seems....

2. muffy

3. lucy

4.noni

5.katie

6.jaquie

7.anything that ends in ie sounding..... :D
I think Lila is really pretty.

I have a friend with a dog named Sunshine and I think that would be a perfect sheepie name.

My almost name for Maggie was Bunny and it always makes me laugh when people call her Bunny who have no idea that was almost her name.

I also love Daisy as a name. So pretty and summery.

And Gertie has an old-fashioned charm.
ooh...if you need to name a sheepie girl it could be Wiggle :D
I like sticking to themes..

whether it be the santa reindeers, snowwhite dwarfs, or goddess'!
oh these are good! I like Zuzu a lot, I think I'm going to try to use that on a poodle we are getting tomorrow.

Keep 'em comin!
Here are some misc. Eskimo (some Yupik, some Inupiak) words that I've always thought make good doggie names:

Nannook.. (polar bear)
Ookpik..(snowy owl)
Eiso..(spotted seal)
Sedna..(an ocean spirit/goddess)

I also like "themes"...and ongoing traditions in naming. My family had a tradition of naming new dogs for WHATEVER book the new owner happened to be reading at the time the dog arrived...which is how we wound up with a dog named "Chesapeke" (after the James Michaner book) who was definately NOT a chesapeke bay retrever!
I like Zsa Zsa after Zsa Zsa Gabour, if she has a sassie personality. :D

Brigette after Brigette Bardot, movie star and animal lover, you could even have just Bardot.
Love sharing names...LOL

Hope these help...I've got a big list of boy names too.
Lately I've been hooked on the name "Alabama" after Patricia Arquette's role in the movie Kalifornia.
Ever since Stacey's dog had puppies, I've been thinking about how hard it must be for people to come up with new names for each litter. I think if I did rescue or bred my dogs... I'd have a set of names designated for the 30-31 days of the month. If they come to me on the 5th, then they get to choose from sallyboo, monique, cher, and billythornbob. That's it. Simple, and by the time another set of dogs came to me on the 5th... those dogs would be gone. ;) Would make remembering their names easy too..
Sadly enough, I often think about what a future little girl will be named. Of course, in my case, the name has to go with Finnigan to sound good!
Top 5 names- Matilda (Tilley, for short) -Ellie -Cyan (for a blue eyed girl)-Maisy and Bessie :)
I am fond of Daisy
Lacey
Roxie
Rosie
Sadie
Sasha
Bambi....Bambina

Shana (means pretty in yiddish)

Hubby says a big part of the name has to do with what the dog looks like.... appearance and personality
My husband named our two "boys". Of course, he just loves Irish Ales...so we now have Sir Guinness and Murphy.

But I am still longing for another girl in the house, so my next sheepie will be ...Madison Mae a/k/a Madi Mae.
Given that they are " Old English" sheepdog's, I try to think of pompous old English names......Kathy BTW: being Irish, that's close enough
I am partial to Zuzu - we have a long hair cat waiting for us at the bridge with that name. I think it wwould fit a playful sheepie as they are always zooming around. Other names we have considered

Saffron - Saffy for short
Lizzy
Baily

Good luck on finding the right name for your new addition.
Tiffany
Raine (rain)
Madaline / Maddilynne
