LOL ... I just finished giving Dancer a bath... she didn't really need it, she was nice and clean anyway, but I need to re-apply her advantage flea control drops sometime in the next few days, and I wanted to do it and make sure it's soaked in before Sky comes home tomorrow and you can't bath them after advantage or else you have to re apply, that stuff is too expensive to waste!
Anyway, Dancer is not really fond of baths... so I am soaked, my bathroom is soaked, and my kitchen is soaked since she ran out there to shake before I could get her into her crate.
But she is bathed! As soon as she dries I'll put on her advantage for this month, I only found one flea on her, but where there is one, there is more.
I definitely don't want Sky getting fleas, they can be so hard on a young puppy.
The cats all get their advantage tonight too, so I'll have a house of unhappy furbabies. LOL
I was amazed at how much Dancer's coat has grown back already! As some of you may have seen in the pics, I shaved her right down to almost the skin. Her coat is already more than an inch long. It comes in kinda wavy. I don't like the look of it when it gets really wavy on some dogs just in that in between stage, when their coat is not quite short anymore, but not long enough to weigh it down straighter. I love the way she looks and feels with a super short coat, but I'll be happy when it grows back in too!
And, I did manage to get most of the pen ink off! In case anyone ever needs to know how to get pen ink out of white fur, a little nail polish remover (acetone) dabbed with paper towel and then rinsed off makes it come out in a flash! Smile
Hi Have you heard that it's best to wait 48 hrs. after a pupper's bath to apply Frontline Plus or Advantage? Something about the pores being open and dry...more receptive to the chemicals? Yick! Hmmmmm... fact or fiction? Gettin' ready to do all this tomorrow!
My vet has told me that when you put Advantage on your cats and dogs, you should also put something to stop them from licking/biting the area. Cats would often groom each other, and dogs will mouth the neck area of the cats (at least mine does) and ingest Advantage. It can cause stomach problems (mild poisoning). There is this stuff that you can spray on the scruff, can't remeber what the name of it is (will look it up later and post) that tastes nasty and they will not touch that area again. This stuff is also great to apply on electrical cords or anything else you don't want your critters chewing. Just a thought. Very Happy
Do you mean bitter lime? I tried it once when my retriever started chewing on my porch. Then she chewed it even more! She would even eat the stuff right out of the tube! Laughing Laughing
Get out!!!! Laughing How funny! No I don't think its that, its some stuff that you can get at your vets office, Bandguard. I guess its the stuff they put on bandages and stiches so that the dogs won't chew on them. Worked great for kittens.
Bitter lime, Bunker would drink if you let her.The vet recommended it, cuz she chewed on her leash when I would walk her.LOL Now she sees it and thinks it is a cookie.
I hadn't thought about the pores being more open.... hmmmm... I'll have to remember that next time.... thanks for mentioning it!
Bitter Lime lover? Sounds like my Harry. He took one sniff of a margarita and dove right in. Obviously we didn't let him drink it.

There is also bitter apple.

A homemade concoction: mix tabasco, cayenne (or habanero--ouch) and dish soap into a paste and paint on surfaces. It wouldn't work being applied onto an animal, but might work on the electrical cord! Then again, I had an Irish Wolfhound who LOVED chile peppers.
LMAO!!! Laughing im so glad too see other sheepies eat ANYTHING!!!!i also never thought about my puppies pores being open right after a bath.makes since tho, after all our pores open after a tubby.see this place i ALWAYS learn something.

why is it that sheepies eat ANYTHING?i mean mickey eats bananas, lemons, garlic.he even TRIES to eat the lava rock from our bar b que grill!! Shocked

wouldnt it be fun to gather all of us in a mutal place w/ our sheepies??just a thought.like all the midwest ppl meet some where all the southerns some where......it would alot of fun for sure!!! Very Happy
Forget it, Tanya! I tried that already, trying to get people together, that is! LOL Maybe you will have more success with that... LOL I think everyone is busy, and we do live so far away from each other. But, hey, next year's NAOES picnic, we should ALL come!!!!! Laughing
