NEW puppy mom needs help!

Hi. 10 week old ADORABLE LOVABLE cavalier cocker.......potty training her to go on a pad (awesome job so far) she is so smart).....however...<g>
she eats or "tries to" eat her poop. I am on her like peanut butter on jelly so she only gets to "lick it" before I grab her up and distract her......
I read to put adolphs meat tenderizer in her food....please someone tell me how much and how often? Be specific! (i.e teaspoon, pinch etc)
NEW PUPPY MOM HERE!!!
Any help on other issues would be great, too.
When is puppy old enough for puppy parks? Do you like puppy parks?
How often do I feed her a day. The dog food from the puppy store said twice daily but I split it over "3 times a day" since she has that NEED to always eat! I give her nutri paste, too.
She sleeps in her crate at night (sometimes i take her out for a few cause i miss holding her so much), but she goes right back to sleep in her crate.
I have a pee pee pad in the bathroom and one in the living room. Seems so do pretty well although she has the occasional accident (nobodys perfect)
thanks in advance for the advice

Hi there and welcome to the forum! I've been going through the eating poop thing for a few months now. It was especially problematic with the snow and ice...POOPSICLES! We tried to feed them Fig Newtons because someone said those don't taste as good when digested. It didn't seem to help.Check out the eating poop thread for some suggestions:

I used "Accent" which is monosodium glutimate with Barney for a while with success. Put about an 1/8 tsp sprinkled on his food. By the time I finished the container he had stopped.
just sprinkle a pinch over her food. do it consistently. meat tenderizer works well esp. if you use it right away. the longer your dog eats poo, the more likely he/she will always eat it.

the most effective option is to pick the poo up. being that my dog uses puppy pads as well, who the heck wants to see poop on a pad in their house, right? 8)

I always watch my dog. if she comes out of the laundry room, no matter the time of day/night, I will get up and look. She gets that she will get a treat if she doesn't eat her poo, so will attempt to tell/show me first. However, if I don't pay attn to her, and she's hungry, she will go eat it. She gets upset when I don't reward her for poo'ing.

puppy parks are okay after your dog has gotten all of her rounds of shots.
I have found the best way to overcome poop licking and/or eating is to carry a small plastic lunch baggie in your pocket and as soon as they poop, praise for pooping with a treat and quickly scoop up the poop with the baggy...I put the baggy with my hand inside and sort of grab the poop and slip my hand inside out so I never touch it....not only does this keep them from eating it, it keeps the yard and your shoes clean too!

I would keep the pup out of doggy parks and any area with other dogs until at least two weeks after they complete all shots...their immune system is just not developed enough...and when at the Vet, keep the pup in your lap or in the car until called...dogs pick up more things from the floors of a Vet's office....
Thank you so much. She is doing very WELL on the potty pads and we have been using the accent on ALL her dry food. I also read somewhere on the internet to allow the accent to "sit on the food for 10 min prior to serving it" They say this breaks down the "good stuff" so when it comes out the other end its not so "appealing" (how could poop ever be appealing......UGHHH)
She gets a pice of a puppy cookie for every pee pee and poo poo!! She also loves kisses and just to be held long enough so she can wag her little tail!!!!
I just adore her so much!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks again. :D
Is Accent the seasoning stuff you put on food? If so, is MSG (Monosodium Glutamate) bad for dogs? Just wondering.
Yes Accent is the stuff you put on food. It is nothing more than MSG. No MSG is not harmful to dogs (according to my vet). I picked up this suggestion from the Humane Society Web site as a remedy for coprophagy (eating poop).
