Anyone want to pick up a dog in Alaska?

Okay, it may be pointless to post this here due to location, but I said I would for a friend. Plus, I've seen this board perform miracles, so I know anything is possible!! :)

Alaska OES Rescue has a three year old, male, Old English Sheepdog available for adoption. His owners were moving and couldn't keep him. He is very gentle and gets along with other dogs and people. He has been neutered and his shots are up to date. Contact Barbara at (edit: phone number removed) or send an email to (edit: e-mail address removed, contact poster for contact information) for more information.

Some of you may have heard ravenmoonart talk about this sheepie. Maybe she is looking for another sheepie? She already talks about him all the time. ;)

Do you have a link with pictures??
No, but maybe Barbara can get one. Not sure if she has a digital camera, but if someone called her...

I will ask. I believe I heard he was real cute.
We've been trying to go meet this guy, but vehicle issues, etc. keep intervening  He sounds like a doll, though, and I'm putting in a bunch of calls to all the "oh, I love your dogs, I wish I had one like them!" folks that I know!
Max is getting dropped off with us tomorrow, as the lady currently fostering him has a girl going into heat, and Max was only neutered last week. He will be our first ever foster, and I've read, and re-read the sticky on fostering/adopting....any advise the experienced rescue folks have would be appreciated!! The biggest issue it sound like he has is his hips...weakness and poor muscle-tone from too much crating and lake of exersize. :(
Good luck Laurel!!
Max arrived at our house this afternoon!!! :excited:

So far, so good...He's a darling, sweet affectionate boy! The only slight shock we received, when he got here was his SIZE 8O ...this sheepie-boy is HUGE! He towers over our dogs, and is WAY to big to fit in the one crate we own...

I took lots of pictures, and will post them, as soon as possible.

Oh Boy...my house suddenly seems VERY small :twitch:
I can't wait for the pictures!

Good job, Laurel :D :D
Laurel, you are an angel for stepping up and helping out this boy!! :clappurple:

Only advice I am going to give at the moment is foster furkids are in someways much like uprights fosters. The first 2 wks they try extra hard to behave as they are unsure of themselves (honeymoon period) then as time goes on and they feel more comfortable some issues emerge if they have any. Just be patient and sometimes for every step forward, it's 2 back but just be consistent and with lots of love they thrive.

Can't wait to hear of upcoming Max adventures and photos too please!

I am so impatient. I have been spying on your album waiting to see the pix and they are there!

Max is sooooooooo cute. I say he has fallen deep in love with your husband and of course the feelings must be mutual

Max is so handsome. I am so happy for him! I hope everything will keep on going smoothly and Max will be your permanent addition!

Good luck!

Gigi
I'm so glad to hear that this board has come through again!

Yeah, it sure looks like Max is trying hard to get along and be apart of the group. ...fitting in nicely it seems!!! :D
