| Its done. Its over with. No more moaning and groaning from dh. Simon got "fixed" on Wednesday. Poor boy had to stay overnite at the vets. I think he may have missed us. As for us, it was quiet in the house. There was no jumping, no barking, no biting, no nothing. Taylor just layed around and slept, the cat could walk across the room without being attacked. We missed him terrible. When we brought him home, Taylor perked right up and the cat ran to hide. We couldn't put the regular plastic cone on him because he just freaked. The vet said he just kept licking so they have this new collar to put on him. Oh my. You have to picture an inner tube. Its round and big, almost hangs to his feet and almost touches his butt. ROTFLMAO. But it works. He can't lick. When I figure out how to post pictures, I'll get them on here. Of course Simon acts like nothing ever happened except he came home with this big growth on him. Even that doesn't slow him down...Pam aka Simon's Mom |

GOOD JOB! You have done the right thing!!!
Hope Simon is better fast. |
We just had our female spayed a month ago and I asked the vet about licking and that and he said it was ok. She didnt come home with a collar or anything. I thought that was really strange. Wonder why different vets do different things. Is your vet older or younger?? just trying to figure out if my vet is old school or new school. |

Some dogs lick a little and some lick a lot. The ones that don't leave it alone and keep licking are recommended to wear collars.
Excessive licking could cause problems like infection..., pull a stitch out..etc |
It is a hard thing to do, but certainly for the best. We never want to put the dogs we love so much through anything painful, but the slight discomfort it causes Simon now is a small price to pay to avoid the potential for hormonal cancers, as well as the potential for unplanned puppies.
Hope Simon feels better soon!
