Looking for a Vet in Denver area with lots of OES experience

I'm looking for a Vet in the north Denver area who understands how special the OES is. Any suggestions?? Teddy is almost 11 and her legs / hips have given out. I need more options.

I think Val had Chummie at CSU for her back surgery.
She has been rehabing at Alameda East. And Maggie is entertaining us in the daycare area now - check out the live cam.
Hi,

I also live in Westminster and have a fantastic vet. Dr. Thomas Mohapp at Mandalay Animal Hospital((303) 464-7501). He has known one of my sheepies for 13 1/2 years. In addition, two of my other sheppies as well. He has a vast knowledge of the breed which we take partial credit for :-). My eldest sheepie has had a splenetomy, TPLO, double hipe replacements, adrenalectomy, and the list can go on. Although he has not done all of the surgeries, he works well with the surgeons who have. One of the most important things to me is that he listens to us and our questions and does not have the "know-it-all" attitude of some vets. He treat us and our sheepies with respect and is truly in the veterinary field because he loves animals. If I lived furter away, I would still take my sheepies to him!

Hope this helps.

Sorry I missed this post! For hip/mobility type issues, I would highly recommend going to see Carrie and Tammy at Alameda East:

They did absolute wonders for Chumley.

I have also heard great things about Dr. Gurney at Aspen Park Vet hospital. He specializes in seniors and has a "magic shot" that gets dogs walking again. http://www.molecdoc.com/
We took our sheepie to Dr. Erik Egger at CSU for both hip replacements on her. He also did a TPLO and assisted on a meniscal repair. We just love him!

We did have Dr. Guirney give our sheepie a cortesone shot in her hip, but ended up having the hip replacement surgery anyway.
How old was your dog when she had hip replacement?
Hi,

Her first total hip replacement was when she was 8 and her second was when she was 11 years old. She is now 13 1/2 and barking and bouncing like a puppy.

:-)
Anastacia!

Joan was excited when I told her that you had joined the forum.

She and I say "Welcome to the forum!" :D

(Be sure to stop by the "Introductions" section and, well, introduce yourself and your wonderful art to everyone!)
Hi Ron & Joan,

My friend told me about someone in Westminster, CO who was looking for a vet. Since we also live there, I thought I would recommend ours as we are so happy with him.

Additionally, as we have had some experience(unfortunately)with orthopedic surgeries on sheepies I thought I would give my experiences and hopefully help someone out.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Anastacia
