Name Game

Well i thought we were set on Finnegan for our pups name but the name Yogi entered into the picture after a visit to the pups. So i figured I would poll the forum to see which name people preferred or if they had additonal suggestions that do no include the name ron within them.

The following names have already been discounted: Cooper, Murphy, Keegan

We were originally looking for an Irish dog name since we both have some irish in our heritage.

I will try to watch the poll and add other suggestions.

Oh as a description of the puppies markings he has an all white head with half a mask or a black spot over his left eye.

I found a listing of Irish Pet Names here:
http://www.namenerds.com/irish/dog.html

Here are a few:
Dugan [DOO gin] - dark lad
Leanan [LEE un nin] - grey lad
Enat [EE nit] - faithful, sincere
Hogan [HO gin] - little lad
Mungin [MUN gin] - long haired

That site has the names very well organized and might give you a few other ideas....
My Yuki has a black marking on her left eye too.

I voted for Yogi. Any sort of bear esp the kind who only thinks about food TOTALLY describes a sheepie to me. I don't know how many times we say we wished we named ours after a bear or... a pup named scooby doo ;) We're left calling her Yuki-doo... she'll do anything if you sing the scooby song for her.

All the names you choose are GREAT names though and would be excellent choices... Yogi just described the goofy personality to me.
there always is Darcy too  :D
How about Paddy?
I like Finnegan!

Me too! :D
congrat's on your puppy
I like Finnigan, because it will continue to fit him, even when he's older and more dignified...um...you'll have to wait 7 or 8 years for that, but still...
But Finnegan is an Irish name. And this is an Old English Sheepdog.

Ron is a great name for a dog.

The Irish connection was that when Mr Lindy was working in Dublin he was introduced to one of his colleagues and mis heard his name and for ages thought it was Porridge....his real name was Porrick which is also a superb name for a sheepie
8) Lindy, love your story about how Porridge got his name. A few years ago we where on vacation in Fort Lauderdale Florida and became friends with an Irish family whose son's name was Porrick. The Mom told us it is Gaelic for Patrick. I have loved that name ever since. I agree with you, it would make a great sheepie name.
Yes it is and St Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland......couldn't get more Irish!
Unfortunately that won't work as my name is Patrick, but I did enjoy all the praise of my name though.
Thanks for all the votes and input. It looks like Finnegan is the official winner.

Even better news I found out from the breeder that we can pick him up this Sunday instead of next Saturday. Woohoo! :o

That's so exciting!!! He will be 8 weeks old though, right?
No, he will actually be 9 weeks old.
Oh that's wonderful. Better to bring him home at 9 weeks than 10 for sure! He's ready to bond to his new family now!

Oh, yay! I'm so excited for you! :clappurple:

Welcome Finnegan!!!!
Love the name....the first two month are the worst 8O
We got Sadie at 10 weeks and we had nothing but troubles with her. She missed her brothers and Sisters so much.

Watch out for them at that age.....

Congrats though and have FUN
