Don't knowwhere to post this but....I am a member of an OES newsletter that circulates all the reputable breeders and OES people. I contacted the moderator and owner of the newsletter about what happend to Elliot and Abbey...She contacted me and begged I post the story to her newsletter for all to read. Said they have been trying to put a stop to thse breeeders on puppy find and this story will help!

So, guess what...Abbey and Elliot, your story is now posted...along with the breeders name and address!!!!

:clappurple: good work!!!
How does one find this newsletter?
I was sent the subscription info by my breeder. I beleive it is a yahoo group OES List server. I'll try and send the link information.

The story was posted and I've received many personal e mails about it already. In fact, there is legislation pending through the ASPCA to regulate and stop breedes such as GreyBears and others on puppy find.

To Suzette and Dolly, please contact your local ASPCA about what happened. And if your Vet can confirm the parvo diagnosis, go to your local papers and or news people. They won't print it or air anything without proof because they will be liable...I'm sure you both ahve everything you need.

I will post the link to the ASPCA pending legilsation. You need to print the letter out, sign it and send it out. I'll try to copy and paste the link.
I was thinking about this and wondering...

Ron.. would it be possible to have a "breeder review" thread in this area. Where people could give breeder reviews. To avoid any legal mumbo jumbo.. you could put in "views held here are those by first hand accounts and in no way are backed or supported by this board.. " etc..etc.. ya know those general aint me cant blame me ones..

And allow people to post about their experineces with particular breeder be it good or bad.. this way people would be able to see who they should be leary of and who they should trust..

i am not sure wether this board has the feature to allow only members to post on certain topics but allow all to read..

just wondering wether something like this is possible.. too many lately have suffered.. and bloody hell.. its time to name n shame these peeps and warn others..

ask that all review be kept simple and not inflamitory or they will be deleted.. ya know give clear precise guidelines on posting on that particular thread.. and of corse should anyone over step mark.. warn them to edit or post will be deleted.. ya know.. things like that.. sure other can speak for someone who another marked as bad.. but at least thats informed.. not like what we have seen where bad get deleted..

but i think a post like that.. would help alot of people coming in make more informed decisions and be fore warned..

just a thought is all
Please be sure to read my other topic about the legislation pending from the ASPCA. It doesn't cost a penny to help. All you need do, is go to the link I provided and print and sign letter and send it off...

We can make a difference...let's do it together. There is strength in numbers and we have ALOT of members right here.
Thanks!
Oh I am SO PROUD to be part of this forum. What a great, passionate group of people!

Ashley, thank you for all that you have done. I will be sending out the ASPCA letter. I am also contacting more people in Arizona and yes, I DO have plenty of documentation!

I, too, think it would be great if we could have an area to rate breeders. Going through Elliott's Parvo ordeal, I feel compelled to do something and am considering starting a website that will showcase responsible breeders, provide breeder ratings, provide education (e.g. "the perils of parvo), and provide links to forums like OES.org. A large portion of the proceeds would go to into a fund that Vet Hospitals could use for animals that need treatment that their owners cannot afford. It's just a thought right now, and there is much to figure out... I'm an engineer "on sabbatical" until after our wedding/honeymoon and I have the time and energy to do this. It would be a way to make a difference.

In the meantime, Elliott continues to slowly improve and we continue to be grateful for all of the prayers, concern and support.

With respect to PuppyFind... here is the response to the email I sent regarding the missing breeder reviews:

According to my records, this seller has received the maximum number of
deletions and the reviews are posted to the site.

I also happened upon a thread discussion on USABreeders.com between breeders that advertise on PuppyFind and the owner of PuppyFind... the breeders that advertise on the site are giving the site owner suggestions on how he should run it. You all might find it interesting: www.usabreeders.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=s ... show_topic

All of what you suggest is possible. Right now, I think I'd just prefer people post about situations without creating a whole section for it.
I was just thinking that have 1 thread dedicated to this would keep all that info in 1 place.. a simple statement of fact about each breeder would allow new peeps to have ready access to that infomation without having to trawl through all the posts.. members could link their "individual story posts" within their review post where future owners could then move onto to gather more info from..

just a suggestion is all =)

something along these lines..

Breeder Name:
Kennel Name:
Breeder / Kennel Location:
Owner rating: (bad, good, great)
Refering materials / links:

only post listed info.. all other info about said breeders would be linked via the refering materials /links section..

as i said.. a suggestion
The problem is that I think it will attract everybody and anybody to tell stories about their breeders and the breeders will threaten to sue, and there will be arguments and letters to me needing responses from me, and to and from my webhost, and then the breeder/spammers will come in to spam their litters and to post about how great their programs and litters are, and people who have dogs from those breeders will feel insulted that their dogs come from a breeder that another member doesn't like, and it will just turn into a huge mess and take a toll on the camaraderie that we have all worked so hard to foster here.

That's my fear.
Ron,
Just a suggestion...how about a "breeders" section in the members only forum..with you or someone screening the posts before they are printed? And with a "sticky" info explaining this is for comments about breeders but they must be legitimate...not oh they didn't call me back, etc...I already hear your question, who's to say what is legit or not! That's why I thought about the "screening process"...I mightl offer to moderate if it makes thing easier...Talk to me! You can email me privately at (e-mail address removed)

I sell on puppyfind and hate tjheir rating system. Any kid can go on there and rate your pic or wording.

I too reside in Missouir (almost 2 years) and yes, we do have the toughest kennel laws in the country. We only raise 2 breeds and we have an open door policy where we gladly take back a pup if their famils sitiation changes, We aslo do bot retire our adults. All are spayed and stay here with us. Our dogs either live in the house or on 6 acres completely fenced. No cages or small pens. The smallest we have is 1/2 acre. We have 100 acres total that is fenced. i'm tired of the Missouri bashing.

Yes there are still puppy mills here. I consider a breeder that produces more then 3 litters a year a miller and right along with them are the ones that broker. We do not broker and are not licensed by the USDA only the state.

BTW, we also have a spay/neuter contract where if you dont spay or neuter your pup -= no papers.
wowo sticKy keyboard!!!! most likely dog slobbers!!!

I meant 3 litters a month... I know of a breeder I came across who is sickeneing. Her webite sounds all cutesy but she gets rid of her retired or no longer wanteds and has at least 30 puppies available at all all times (6 litters a month). They are suppose to be raised in her bedroom....yeah right... Nothing but $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Country Springers.. <cough>

Another 1 has about 30 dogs that live in her laundry room in crates and are allowed out 1 time a day for 'potty'..
DISGUSTING~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think you were closer when you said three litters a year. Anyone having more than that couldn't possibly be doing it to improve the breed, they are just doing it to generate a large income, and couldn't possibly do it without hired help.

= puppy mill.

36 litters per year? 300 puppies a year and you don't consider that a puppy mill???

Let me guess, you have about 2 litters a month?

I guess you feel cleanliness and unattended large pens makes someone not a puppy miller. I feel that those qualities would just make someone a clean and large-penned puppy miller. But that's just my own personal opinion.
