The 50 Things To Do Before I Die List

I remember when my son was in the 7th grade and his teacher handed out a list a gentleman made in his early 20's of the "50 things I want to do before I die List".

Since then, I've heard about this list and how one should constantly revise it ..as things are done, crossing them off and adding new things to the list.

Well the last two weeks have been really rough, the car troubles, my washing machine died, family crisis, then found out my ex gave his g/f my brand new van when he said he had to return it, (the incident happened 5 years ago but I only found this out 3 days ago.) Last night, the water heater died and the cats I'm fostering were killing each other. I had to break up some nasty feline fights and at the same time rushing downstairs trying to clean up a water soaked mess.
The water tank is located in my magic room!! Urg I have some very expensive illusion and magic props in there as well as costumes, school supplies, ect. I shut the power off down there and deep into the night I worked armed with a map and flashlight.

So... as I'm driving to work this morning in my old beat up van with no heater and after showering in icy cold water I was still trying to think positive. Hmmm what to do?

Then it dawned up me...I'm going to take a stand up comedy course! Yup that's what I'll do...can't help what's going on but if I ever go into stand up comedy I'd have a lot of material! :D :D :D

My friend took the course 5 years ago at a college some distance away and on the last evening all the graduates perform at Yuk Yuk's comedy club. I added that to my list 5 years ago.

The other members started the class last week but thankfully the kind admissions person still let me register! Guess my pleading and begging worked! This evening was my first class and unlike the others whom started last week I didnt' have prepared material and each member of the class had to go up to the microphone and tell an amusing story of childhood. I wasn't prepared but "winged it" telling the story of my disabled childhood cat whom had no sense of balance and weaved as if drunk ..nic named Johnny Walker by the neighbors.

Thank you ...I'll be hear all week.

I think that's a wonderful course. Hopefully the feed back will be positive and you'll be able to overcome these catastrophies with the energy you get from your class mates.
You need to sell those excess couches now 8O and fix the hot water and car.

Best wishes with the Comedy course, I am sure you will be fantastic at that, you always make me smile and laugh Marianne.
Hey thanks you two , I was revising my post when you both wrote.

The course was so much fun! I couldn't stop laughing thoughout and the people were so friendly. One fellow cracked me up relaying a story of a woman who came to his home for dinner one evening when he was a kid. She wore a floor length rabbit fur and his Pointer (hunting dog) attacked the coat with a vengence while the woman was dining. The kids were trying to wipe the drool and hoped she didn't notice the teeth marks after hanging up her coat. Nice to laugh at other peoples stories!

Another fellow got up and told of how when he was a kid he tried to use crazy glue to fix his broken glasses. Squeezing the bottle the glue exploded all over his hands attaching them to his glasses and the other to his forehead. His father came to help and attached himself to his son. I remarked that was real father son bonding.. :D and he's going to keep that line. I had to wipe my eyes at that story.

Oops in my first post I said I was armed with a map..heh heh ( I do know where my magic room is located in my house) typo - I meant to say mop.

Heeheeheeeheee.....I was wondering why you kept a map of your magic room handy.

Way to make lemonade, Marianne!! :clappurple:
I thought the map a bit odd, but it did kindof make sense. I just thought you had lots of stuff and had a master diagram of it all.:D :D

If it's any consolation, my main water pipe into the house burst on Saturday morning. Of course it was about an inch BELOW the shut-off valve. I had water spraying all over too - I know what you feel like. I'm running outside, trying to remember which box on the power pole shuts off the pump down in the well hole. 8O 8O Then of course its a weekend, and I'm going through the yellow pages trying to blindly pick a plumber who will come out on a Saturday morning and not hose us!

Of course the pipe is back in a corner of our porch - I still have stuff in my bedroom that really belongs back out there. The water had eroded under the cement pad, so we have to patch that before we can put the softner back where it belongs. So Chewies crate is moved forward about 3 feet, so it is just a mess. And I have a crater where he had to jack hammer the cement pad to replace the pipe (the leak was about an inch up from the floor)

:( :( :( I have TOTAL sympathy with you Marianne. I just had to get my car fixed too - the accelerator was sticking. 8O
Are we allowed to post our own list here or should we start another thread for everyone's list?
Marianne your another Erma Brombeck (I think thats her name :? )
Yep, and we will proudly say "we knew her before she was famous"!!! :D
Good for you Marianne.let me know when you come out this way on your tour.
