Barnhart, MO- Jefferson County Animal Control

There's a new sheepie on PetFinder... he's in Missouri and it sounds like he's got about 5 days. I don't know anything about him other than what they posted and that he looks scared and sad. Poor boy.

So sad, he looks really scared
I called and spoke to someone there today - she said they were waiting for his owners to pick him up. If they don't come to get him within the next 5 business days, then he goes up for adoption....for some reason she wanted me to be clear that they were "business" days.
I just called too.

I was very concerned that this dog would be put to sleep. We were talking about going down to get him or flying him up here (a friend offered to fly him!) and keep him with us until we could find him a home.

They said that a woman with two children saw him running in the street and didn't want him to get hit by a car so she picked him up, went home and called animal control. The went and got him.

The man I spoke to at Animal Controk, Jim, was very helpful. He said that this is definitely someone's pet, the dog is too well mannered and groomed. He also seemed to know that the OES doesn't do well in shelters and said that they were giving him extra attention (which, of course, made me feel better for him but sorry for the other dogs).

He took my name and number and said that he would call me if anything happens (the owners pick him up, he is adopted, etc.) and I said I'd call and check on the pup at the end of the week.

If anyone else hears anything, please let me know - I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Betsy
He has a great face. Hopefully his family is looking and just hasn't found him yet
That's great Betsy. Thanks for being a safety net for this boy. :D

Did Jim with AC say anything about his temperament? I hope he's reunited with his family if it was some bazaar accident that he got loose.
gosh you guys are qucik i was just going to post about him..seems like he will be ok
Jaclin,

I asked Jim if he seemed to get along well with other animals but, as I expected, he really couldn't tell.

He did say that he was well behaved, as well as being very well taken care of.

From the sound of it, Jim seems to feel that the owners will find this dog and, if not, it will be adopted.

I'll let you know. I'm going to call Jim back on Friday.

Betsy
I just got of the phone with a rescue friend of mine in KY and he will get in touch with Madeline Erickson and see if she has a home for him, if not he will go and pick him up.
This boy is safe.
Yippee!

We would have taken him, if it came down to it.

Please let us know what happens.

Thanks,
Betsy
Thanks Ingrid. :D
KY said someone was going to work with him a bit today so maybe they can tell more about his temperament. Thanks again for stepping in to help.

By the way, you've got some beautiful sheepies in rescue right now. Lily is especially charming!

That Tucker looks like a character
Lily is a beautiful girl and so up to date, she has a tattoo :)
The foster mom reports that she gets along so well with her dogs and the other night they all slept together in her bed. She must have a California King SIze bed, three sheepies, that is just to much
Tucker is a cutie, the family got him from the shelter and he was supposed to be a Lhasa but grew and grew, now with 50 pounds he is just to big for the small children.
We already have a home for him.
We are getting more sheepies in this weekend. Wynette will check on the two that are still with the breeder and I will get two from Nashville.
It is raining sheepies again.
Let it Rain, Let it Rain, Let in Rain. Oh, that's snow isn't it? I hope Wyn is willing to share with me when she gets those two! I feel lonely without an extra four paws under my two feet.
Man... how did I miss Tucker?
He's a neat looking wheapie

That second photo looks just like Maggie to me, with that patch and the deep, worried eyes. :hearts:
Hi all,

I called and spoke with Andrea, the secretary at Animal Control. I wanted to see how the dog was doing and how it looked for him to be adopted or claimed by the family.

She said that the family still hadn't come for him (which makes me very sad) and that he was still there for adoption. He would be able to be adopted or rescued next Wednesday - Valantine's Day!

She did say that a few rescue groups were interested in him though. I told her I would call back on Tuesday to see how it was going.

Here's my request - since I am not a rescue group but would gladly go and get him if no one else can - would you anyone who plans on getting him let me know. Otherwise, Sean and I will go down and take him home with us. I know how busy you all must be and understand that sometimes there could be something that prevents you from rescuing every dog in need, so we are just offering our help.

Betsy
Betsy, the rescue group he was referring to was us. South East.
My friend Jim Spurling has been checking on this dog and they told him to wait because right now they can not come near him. He is very scared of people. They are working with him and Jim will call back on monday to see how things are going. So he is safe.
Would you like to foster him, if so , please let me know because once we get him out we need a foster home.
Send me a private email.
I just called on this boy and they told me has been adopted and is going home with a family today.
Yippee!
Dogs live in horrible conditions.
