Millie update

I got worried I got home at 3PM and Millie was making these really weird sound and was sneezing to much I got worried and said scr*w everything I am taking her to the vet. So I called and the vet said bring her in. I got there and she continued making those weird noises. Then they put her in a room came in and checked her out she did have fever but then they laughed I was like wth is going on with my baby? My vet said oh dear all that's wrong with her is she has Kennel cough ( Only cause she was in a shelter). They gave my girl a shot of antibiotics and sent her home with Doxycycline and Cough tabs. They are so nice to Millie and I. All the vet charged me for was her shot and med's $40.00. So Then on our way home she perked up and was wagging her tail and giving kisses I am so glad now we just have to see if the pills work for her. My only concern is How will I make her swallow these pills? Thanks everyone Hug and Licks From Millie.

I have to give Chummie alot of pills and my fail proof method is to wrap the pill in a thing called "pill pockets." They are soft, yummy treats that you smoosh around the pill. Chum LOVES pill pockets.

Here is a link to pill pockets at Petsmart.

Good luck with your Millie! I am sure she will be better before you know it. Make sure you give her all the pills, even if she seems ok before they are gone.
Sara,
You could try to wrap the pill in cheese or cover in peanut butter or cream cheese and offer as a treat. One of the above methods should work.
I hope she feels better soon!
We do the pill pockets too. They are fool proof at our house for the ones who otherwise find the pills and spit them out.

Glad to hear she's on the mend!! :D
I have had 3 come down with kennel cough (all rescued from shelters). Once the kennel cough is gone and you keep them updated on the bordatella vaccine - none of them have ever had a recurrence of it.
Well her cough is now full blown she was just starting to come down with it yesturday. I think she will be better so I just wish she didnt sound like she had something stuck in her throat. The vet said it's normal but she coughs so hard some times she gags... Send her some hugs this way.... I am sure she will be better I have already spent $300.00 on my lil girl on med and vet and little dresses and vitamins she has the works...
Millie will be fine....Panda contracted kennel cough a few yrs back....it sounds really bad, but the meds should start working soon.

Panda sends Millie some wet sloppy kisses and a snuggle..she knows what its like....xo,
My Macy -chocolate lab- had it several years ago. She actually vomited because she coughed and gagged so hard. :( It will get better though :D .
The antibiotics helped. She never got it again, nor did any of my other dogs.
I hope Millie is feeling better soon. :)
To help her cough the stuff up, pat her on the sides while she coughs to loosen up the phlegm. Clyde had it when he was a baby and the patting did seem to help make the coughing more productive.
8) :ghug: Hugs to Millie and you. I hope Millie starts feeling better soon! :hearts: Keep us updated.
