Sam aka Duke Update
 Hi everyone, Duke is now home. His new name is Sam-Wise Gangie after the character in Lord of the Rings that helps Frodo on his ring quest. We call him Sam. Maggie is trying to figure out how Sam fits into our pack right now. They are sorting things out between themselves. Sam is a sweet boy and is trying to learn basic manners. He is a true sheepie, very stubborn but very loving. The adjustment period will take some time and hopefully Maggie and Sam will grow used to each other. The two dogs play outside just fine but when they are in the house they tend to get into arguments over who is sitting next to Mom. Needless to say these arguments are very loud and aggressive, which I do not like at all. Maggie is a oes-mix and has always ruled the roost and Sam being a rescue is very insecure, not a great combination right now.  Just want to say thanks everyone for all the good wishes. |

Congratulations on getting your new boy home. Yes, the adjustment period can be challenging. There are several folks here with experience in this area, though, and I'm sure if you need suggestions, they'll be willing to help.

| Speaking from experience it takes about 4 to 6 wks before they will both figure out their place in the pack. I would recommend giving them each alone time with Mom even if it just for a walk.

| Congrats! I am so happy to hear that Sam is finally with you.
I think they just need to figure out that Mom has two hands, one for petting each dog and everything will be fine.
