Omega 3 Fatty Acids - Can dogs take human pills?

I've been buying Omega 3 Fatty Acids for Hendrix from Dr. Fosters and Smith. Is there a cheaper alternative? Can dogs take the human omega 3 fatty acid caplets? Any other recommendations?

I don't know about the Omege - 3 but my vet often prescribes human vitamins or other OTC (like Beano :) ) for our dogs.
I know a lot of people who just buy generic at the pharmacy meant for people.

Here is a link to an article I found very informative, even though they are touting their own brand just a little bit LOL

This link is also excellent and shows a chart of the doseages in various brands, and appropriate amounts by weight of the dog.

Omegas 3 &6 have so many benefits to canine and human health, it's amazing to see the list!
This is great, THANK YOU!
I use Natures Bounty 3 & 6 from Rite Aid. The dogs love them, they think they're treats
