Edgars first at home hair cut.

Edgar got his first at home hair cut. 8O It was a two day process because after I cut him the first day he looked a bit jacked up. So the next day I went back and re went over him. It's not the best hair cut but I am pretty pleased for how it came out for someone who has never done this before. I was expecting worse. Much WORSE!

Edgar getting to try out his new grooming table and clippers.

Hair was strewn about the floor everywhere. Looks like there should be nothing left of him.

Carrying him outside to do his business. If he got anywhere near his clipped hair he was trying to gobble it down.

And his face. Talk about hard trying to clip a dogs face that wont stay still.

I ADORE the pics esp the one of you carrying him out!!! What's the point in getting a grooming table if you're hurting your back by holding him? ;) :P

You did a good job! Where did you get your grooming table? Are you the one who got one on ebay?
Nope I'm not the one that got it on Ebay. I got my grooming table at Ryans Pet Supply for 78.85. Pretty cheap I thought.

He is heavy. I didn't realize how big he had gotten until I tried to pick him up to put on the table. MY LITTLE BABY IS GONE!! sniff :(
He looks absolutely adorable! Great job!
I have a hint for getting them on the grooming table, Laika is soooo heavy. I kept thinking how will I do this. But she figured it out for me! I had it up against the back of my coach on day. She jumped up from the coach to the table!! So smart!

ps great job! makes me want to clip Laika, but I cannot do it! As long as she is matt free... she must endure my brushing!
I think you did a GREAT job :clappurple:

What size blade did you use I like the length!
How did you do his face? He looks great!! I am contemplating trying at home clipping...any tips you have as a fellow first-timer would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Spacegirl21----I had thought about that but....Edgar isn't allowed on the couch yet. He thinks he is big stuff so until he is better trained he has to stay on the floor.

Tasker's Mom----I used a size 10 blade with a 1 1/4 blade attachment.

Amanda P----Oh dear, I really don't know what to say because I'm so not an expert on dog clipping at all. What I did was watch how they did his face when he was getting groomed at Petsmart then tried to imitate that. I used a pair of regular scissors and thinning scissors. And boy was it hard to do his face because he wouldnt hold still. It involved my husband wrestling with him trying to get him still. But still if you do, I think nice scissors are a must. I bought cheap ones at a pet store and it feels like i am using kindergarten scissors and have to saw when i use them. They are going to be my next purchase. :D

He looks gorgeous. I love his sweet face!
Edgar looks WONDERFUL!! You did a GREAT job! :cheer:
He really looks cute - what a great job you did! My dog would end up with a chop job if I tried to do that.
I love his haircut. You did an absolutely wonderful job on him!! He still looks shaggy, but manageable. Your Edgar is a cutie! :D
great job!!!! :clappurple:
Thanks everyone for your nice words on how he looks. I was freaken out the first day that I trimmed on him because he looked SO bad. It was terrible. Thankfully I was able to get it even out some. I guess since you all think he looks ok I won't have to hang my head in shame with embarrassment when I go out with him on walks. :D
Hey - he looks like he went to a groomer in my opinion. Way to go!

Just kidding...he really does look great :high5: ...I am hoping I can manage something similar with Izzie when I get the nerve up to clip her myself

An honest one?? I like it. It just took me a few seconds to realize that it was Robin. She had really dark hair before....now she is blonde...lol...I did the same transition, but mine was to cover grey. Robin is still to young for that......but its nice to know that if she ever bought a hair extension, i could borrow it 8O
I wish I could find a groomer that could do a puppy cut like that for my kids. Nice 8)
He looks a lot better than my sheepie did the first time I gave one a haircut. 8O
Edgar looks GREAT! :clappurple: :clappurple:

How much do you charge?...LOL
