Showing

Not sure if I'm in the right category but I guess Ron will move me to where I'm suppose to be!

Anyone here actively showing in conformation? Anyone know of a professional handler in the tri-state area ( NY, NJ, CT )...even Pa is close enough! I'm hoping to find someone who handles OES as opposed to all breeds.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Did you have questions or are you looking for help or just want to come hang out at some shows?

VerveUp and I will be at the Boardwalk, New Jersey show on Saturday February 3rd if you are interested. If you can't make that, there's always New York City on Februatry 13th.
I show also, though I'm not anywhere near you....
I will be showing in the states this year but most likely Michigan, New York, possibly PA.
Knew I'd miss somebody!
I used to show, but not since TI.
SSssssshhhh, Ron!!!

We must never speak of The Incident!
If you don't want to hire Maxmm as a handler -- (although I hear that she will be bringing out a boy named Wyatt SOON!!!!! ) please PM me and I can put you in touch with a handler in MA that shows a lot in your area and can completely help you with coat too although it's more fun if you do it on your own!

Oh and here's me showing -

And the handler I hired from MA who finished him.

Big Difference!!!
The Wyatt isn't coming out until the end of March. His sister is actually a little ahead of him so maybe they'll both come out then. We shall see....

Verve, you really should start drinking when you show!
Gee, Maxxm...didn't mean to insult anyone with my question :? I just didn't see many posts or discussions about showing so I wasn't sure if anyone here was into it all that much. Now I know!

Maybe Ron can get a category together for lists of show events? Hope I don't get another "devil face" over that...

Are you showing in NY at Westminister? I can't get to Jersey on the third. I actually have a Vet appointment that day...
Ashley, there's nothing wrong with a devil face. We all use it when we're making jokes  You never have to feel bad about asking show questions, we all love to see pictures of our Forum show dogs and their owner/handlers!

Shhhh you're giving away handling secrets 8)

Hey Maxmm you forgot the Norway members, they all show too.

Best wishes Ashley and if you handle the dog yourself well that makes it even more special for both of you. :D Nothing better then learning and doing it yourself.
See, I knew I would forget more people!! Sorry Norway guys!!!

Ashley, the devil face is actually a good thing! There are a few of us that are very goofy and sarcastic so it's only meant to be in fun, hence the evil grin that goes with it. If you get the angry devil well, that's a whole other story!!

And we will be at Westminster. We show on Tuesday, the 13th. A bunch of us are going so if you'll be coming, let us know!

Who?
Thanks everyone. I'm new here. Glad to be getting to know everyone..I'm known to be a bit sarcastic myself!

Right now I am planning to get to Westminister. What is a good time to show up? I know the show is crazy and people are stressed so I don't want to impose. I figure early in the day is better?

Also, what is the name to look for for the dog you are showing Maxxm? I know alot of sogs ahve what I call their "stage name" and are not always the same as what we call them!

Verveup contacted me too and was very helpful. Hope I can meet up with you both...

Any good books or anything I can start reading to get more familiar with the showing?
Thanks,
Diane

You are better off going to shows and asking questions. Usually OES people show up a couple of hours before ring time to brush out their dogs. It's good to either show up right then, to watch/ask questions or go back to the grooming area right after they are done showing. Not everyone is going to be nice, but they should be if they want to get people interested in showing and to continue on with the breed. Make sure you mention you have an OES that you are wanting to show and usually they are more receptive. The worst thing is to show up around 1/2 hour before ring time that is the most stressful time.

At Westminster it would be much better if you could come to the bench area right after the OES are done showing to look for Maxmm/Mandy and the other OES.orgers. I posted on the "Westminster" thread exactly how to find her. She is stuck there until at least 5pm so there should be plenty of time to chat plus you will get to meet "4dognight" and "Butterstotch"
LOL...I can just see me looking around and asking," Are you 4dognight or Butterscotch!" Hopefully I'll have names before hand! I am Diane by the way :)

Sure we will be in touch before the date. Looking forward to it! And since I won't be seeing you until after, GOOD LUCK!!!
