Hi Everyone,
I know I received lots of help previously regarding purchasing a pet gate and I think it was called First Steps? Is that correct?
I have been to numerous Home Supply stores as well as Dept stores in search of the baby gate that was posted on the forum to no avail. Perhaps I have the name wrong?
Any suggestions from members? I prefer a iron/metal looking gate as I already have a plastic gate..several in fact. This is to go at the top of the stairs so I can answer the door without my three furballs licking the company before I have a chance to say hi.

Marianne I have two of "the first years" hands free gates and they are wonderful. But I'm having a hard time finding an extension for one of them 
. One place that used to stock them told me they were brought into Canada as a promotion item and now no longer carry them.

I just checked out First Years website and you can order directly from their website. They do ship to Canada, the gate is 69.99 and the extensions are $18.49.
ToysRus has some similar gates on their website...you can call their store or have them ship it to you as well. The only problem with shipping from ToysRus is they ship by UPS so you have to be home to accept the package.

Just looking at the other gates and the one thing missing on the swing gates is the knee opener , it's great if your hands are full 
PetSmart shows them at 59.99 (don't see any in BC but there seems to be some in Alta.

Thanks everyone for the help! I think I was calling the baby gate , First Steps but nonetheless Zellers, The Bay, Walmart, Home Depot, Rona, Sears and Rona didn't have it. Ha you see I've gone to so many places.

Marianne if you find one and you need the extension make sure they have them
I was going to order an extension from the web site but by the time they added delivery it would have cost around 40.00 for something I paid 18.00 for here , so I will just have to keep looking  |

Maybe a local Petsmart will order the entension for you. After all it IS on their website.

How about ordering from the Sears Catalog...check them out on line too.
We have an Elfe product...it extends quite wide, I really like it, it is wood. But so far it was the only one that fit our doorway.
They have ones now that have a cat door in it, so the cat's don't have to jump over...this owuld be perfect for stairs. I can't remember where I saw that...sorry. Maybe I was dreaming it, but if I have time I will try and find it. |

Here is how to find what Sears have...I tried the above link and it wasn't there...but you find it under babies, under home safety...then scroll down you see the gates. They have a bug in the system I think, but the catalog has them too. |
Oh I owe all of you big time!!! Offering to give up my first born to any takers...second born too!!
That's it!!! A baby gate with cat door!!! I guess that's why I kept hesitating from any purchases, as all the bars were too close together and cats couldn't get through. I have fat cats 
They were jumping over the last gate but then were perched up high on a half wall thingie near the top of the stairs and drove the three dogs crazy.
Sigh my life is going to get easier!!! Thanks to all for their help!!!
