Dutch and I need help-Jumping and grabbing at the leash.

When I try to walk Dutch using a flat buckle collar it's a constant jumping and grabbing the leash and she will not let go of it . I stop and stand still when she grabs it, jumps or pulls but so far that has had no effect on correcting her.

Anybody got any suggestions :D

Have you tried a halti?
Oh I forgot all about that one LOL and I have one in the cupboard so will try it thanks :D
Two things:

1. Gentle Leader headcollar
2. My Smart Puppy for positive training strategies

Both have been tremendously helpful for Maggie and me.

Good luck!
Sadie STILL jumps and grabs the lead... if we're out for a walk at an odd time of the day she thinks its a game and plays "tug" with the leash ...

sorry im no help but i would just like to let you know you are NOT alone
thanks Val and hide_the_cookies it's nice to know I'm not alone LOL
You are so not alone. Multiple your troubles times 3.
Merlin used to do that as well.....and at dog school we had to use the Gentle Leader. He didn't like it at first but it stopped the nonsense!

On Avalon....it didn't stop the nonsense LOL so I have a mixed review of the Gentle Leader LOL

Oh I just 'remembered' when at dog school we had to have tiny treats....I used chicken weiners and cut them up in tiny pieces....while walking the dog on the leash the hand that isnt holding the leash is feeding the dog the treats...the dog starts paying attention to you and doesn't play with the leash. At least that is what their idea was!
Also, remember to be consistant. If sometimes you allow her to get by with the behavior, she will continue. Or, if you are trying to stop the behavior, and someone else who walks her lets her get by with it, she won't stop. Make sure everyone is on the same page and committed to changing.
Good luck :) .
We will persevere LOL, thanks all :D
Just to let you know you are not alone and it must be a sheepie thing...Guinness has his CGC and is a therapy dog. He does well at what he is supposed to do (most of the time)but if I put him on a leash in the yard(like right after a bath to controll his antics) he will grab the leash and pull and tug and sprong and just about pull me off my feet 8O . I guess I am not much help other than to say I have the same problem sometimes!!!!
Same here, except hubby encourages it! Arghh! :?
