More snow Val?

While reporting our weather to CoCoRaHs this a.m. I noticed Boulder got another 6 inches or so of snow.

I'm sure Valerie will gladly sell or give away snow to those of you who have yet to have their first flakes.

Maggie is probably tired of all the white stuff by now.

Well, with temps in the 70s here, it doesn't look like we'll be getting any snow any time soon. Just once this winter I'd like some winter weather -complete with snow! :D
I was telling some other people in chat that Alaska might as well be its own country b/c it's never talked about on the news. We're "going on" triple the normal amount we normally get for the month December according to the news. I'm sure that's still less than CO.

Although the next few days should be in the negative digits, so maybe we'll have a chance to shovel some of it.

Where the plow trucks moved the snow across the street... well, it reaches everyone's BALCONY! You could easily climb up and go into someone's house.
Now I'm really jealous, I want SNOW!!!
Yes! I woke up to a winter wonderland -- another six inches filling in where the old snow had melted away. The dogs were so excited to see it this morning. Me too! I love it.
Yeah, but Alaska is suppose to get snow. OK, not to rooftops, but still plenty of snow. Alaska is forgotten in national media.

Val's snow is suppose to reach us tonight........I'm not holding my breath for anything exciting.
How about more sun, we had a hottie yesterday, 37 c, blow the snow this way Val.
Wow, 37 C would do wonders for the developing mud problem!
Urg!!! I woke up this morning and had to do a double take..snowing again? Some of you may remember my recent pics taken at the dog park last week showing a nice sunny day.

Yuckier still....more wind, snow and rain...did I mention I hate snow!!! NY is experiencing the warmest weather in over 150 years, same is happening in Ontario, and we in BC, CO and Alaska (mentioned the state to make Ms J happy :D ) are being plummeted by records of the nasty white stuff and record breaking wind storms. Sigh will it ever end?

At the moment the wind is howling outside and the news has just reported our BC place stadium with it's world famous dome roof, has torn and is flapping in the wind. Sports fans are mourning that today you can be sure. I'm thinking I'd like to live in Burmuda , then again I'd probably experience a hurricane. :?

>>Reminds self never to say it never snows in my area ever again. Sticks post it notes all over to make note to self. Tries to win favor with that little Murphy guy and might pour myself a wee bit of Irish drink..even tho I don't drink. :phew:

Marianne and the boys
Marianne,

You have been having quite a winter up there!! I think of you everytime I see another storm blasting ashore. Had not heard about the sports stadium but then US news pretty much ignores Canada.

Actually I enjoy the snow here, just wish the roads were safer. Very few snow plows and a lot of idiot drivers.

Love the way the sun reflects off the snow and brightens the house interior.

Hate what the snow has done to some plants, but then I love my pruning saws.

Well, this is an El Nino winter but it was suppose to be a mild one......heaven forbid it would be a BIG one. More cold and snow for us for the next 60 days if all the weather fairies are correct and then a hot, dry summer. We'll see
hehehe to Marianne.
What or where is Canada?
I can't imagine not having snow in places that normally do this winter :(

I hope no one experiences an abnormally HOT summer this year. I'm afraid to move back to TX and have an entire summer w/temps above 100. Oh wait, I've been in alaska too long. That's normal. :D

It's -4, and it snowed all last night. But, just flurries. Argh.. I want more! The last time my mom came up to AK, there was no snow, and it was super muddy. Well, I'm afraid it will all melt by the time she gets here on the 13th.

what i find amazing is that it is warmer on the east coast than here....our hi yesterday was 52 and rainy....i think the Boston was around 56 :?

My space heater hasnt stopped...
It's 8C here right now (46F) and cloudy and rainy... I'd much rather have the snow! LOL
Gonna be in the 60's here today.... goin out to play!
As I sit here at my desk at 1:30 Sat afternoon, the thermometer reads an outside temperature of 68 deg!! For JANUARY 6TH!!!!!!!!!

Because the older I get, the less I like driving in the snow (and until I retire I can't get away from driving in the snow), so I can't say with any sincerity that I'm sad we haven't had even one flake of snow this season. Plus it's easier on the purse strings because we're using WAY less oil this winter. But I just dread what this means for next summer. Either unbearably hot and dry, or always cloudy and ugly - which is worse??
At 2:13 pm here in Baton Rouge it is 74 degrees. Wearing shorts again.

If the temp stays high like this I may need to have the dogs puppy cut early as I normally don't do it until March or April.
I can't believe it's 74?!?!?!! Good grief, I'd be so unhappy!!!
It actually hit 70 some here today!! I shut off the heat and opened my windows!!!!
Geez Air Conditioner on again Today, Phew hot hot hot. 8)
It was in the upper 50s in the Chicago area today. It's so strange. I do like the warmer weather, but my allergies and sinuses aren't catching a break this year :(
Sigh the power went out yesterday and now my computer won't work...my house was shaking, rattling and rolling..

I'm using someone else's computer at the moment and for some reason can't log on...grumble stupid storm.

Yikes! They are predicting another wind storm to hit us tonight and then again early in the morning.

Poor Val in CO however, I heard about the avalanche on the freeway in that state.

 see we hear news about you guys..!

I was not near the avalanche but it is right en route to a huge and popular ski area to which I've been planning on going at some point. I am glad I didn't go today!

I was actually going to go to a different ski area today, but fast gusting winds forced it to close, so I didn't go. Instead, Maggie and I enjoyed our usual dog-packed hike.

Thanks for thinking of me but it sounds like you've got it far worse. . .
Valerie, I swear you were meant to live in Colorado ;)

You are so active. Your furkids are lucky. My dogs went around the block today (my maltese in a stroller), but that was the extent of it.

Its funny. Colorado is a place that I always thought I wanted to live throughout highschool and college because I loved to ski and hike and bike, but then I went to lawschool and my career took me to DC (which I loved) so I just had it out there as a fantasy alternate life. I really feel like I am living my dream.

LMAO.
Marianne you OF should STOWED AWAY on the plane that landed here today. 8)

50 Specialist firefighters from Canada, they are enjoying the warmer climate, they broke out in a sweat when they landed, you'll know who they are when they return, they'll be the ones with a tan. :P
Oh poor Marianne!!

Avalanches on Berthoud Pass is quite common, just not that big. Normally they are shot down before they get that big......but the highway department just didn't have the time to get to it. Just around the curve from the Stanley Slide Complex is the Dam slide. Interesting story.........you've probably seen clips of an avalanche coming down and overtaking the camera. Chances are you are see the Dam slide. In the mid 60's that clip was taken......I'd ask husband who exactly it was....who was killed in process. Anyway, come spring someone was poking around the site and found the camera! The local TV station offered to pay for it!!! Instead the finder knowing it belonged to Walt Disney corp contacted them and they paid ZIPPO for the film.

HGTV's Dream Home Giveway is for a chalet in Winter Park, just on the other side of Berthoud Pass. I worked for the Forest Service in Winter Park.......not long after the Dam slide incident. Now I want all of you to enter the drawing and invite me up when you win. ...and I'll invite you IF I win.

Val where were you heading before you got winded out?

I was planning to go to Eldora but I didn't go when I read the snow report and saw winds of 40 mph with higher gusts. They closed the area due to winds yesterday and today.
Didn't realize Eldora was stil open! Yes, always been a windy ski area.

Love the Avatar......Maggie needs to join a sled team! Years ago a ski icon......???.......had either Beardies or Sheepies with him when he came to visit our ski area.........was that Fred Islin?? They terrorized the base area until he came down the slopes......they knew him by his style and would bark him down.
Still me logging on as Guest as not on my own computer..sigh spent 7 hours outdoors yesterday cleaning up the mess in my yard of debris, branches and every single rose bush fallen over (I have tall rose bushes). Two of my arbors were destroyed, the wooden one I built, fell over, and the thin metal one is mangled.

Hmm wonder if my computer fried during the power outage as I was on it at the time? It won't turn on at all..screen is black. Grumble..

Marianne and the boys

Lisa don't tempt me!!!! Or else I'll be showing up at your doorstep with the 3 dogs, 5 cats and my son! LOL ohhh 50 firefighters..swoon that would have made the trip worthy too!
