Introducing Bell.

Thanks Ron... let's try this again.

Hi. My name's Alan. Myself and my wife have recently embarked on a venture in to the world of the Olde English Sheepdog. It started out not so well but we're confident that our new arrival will slot in here perfectly. She's bonkers just like the rest of our gang. Right now she's trying to wrestle the jeans off of my wife.

We're all still getting to know each other but she's a real bright spark. She's taken to everybody very quickly and seems full of confidence. We'll give her another day or so to settle in and then we'll take a trip to the vets to get her registered and make appointments for next shots and such.

We honestly hope we can settle in here on the boards despite our recent spat so that we can share our new experience with Bell and pick up some tips along the way.

I have posted some pics this evening but I put them in the wrong gallery. So if somebody is able to move them to the puppy gallery... that would be great. :D. Thanks!

I'm not sure about that... her feet smell pretty rough when they pop out of a pair of tennis shoes. It must be an acquired taste.
Absolutely adorable!!!!!!!! I love puppies. Yours looks like a doll.

Bonus points for persistence!

Welcome, Alan, to you, your family and your new little ball of joy! Hope we can be of some assistance to you in your jouney into OES-land...
She's adorable. Congrats. :)
Welcome!

Pics moved.
welcome - she's almost as cute as Ava was when she was a baby
Hi Alan and Tanks , welcome to the forum, your puppy is a doll with beautiful eyes
Welcome to the forum! Belle is beautiful, and lucky to be growing up in a house with kids!

I didn't even know what an Old English Sheepdog was less than 2 years ago, so I've ventured into the OESD world myself pretty recently.

Check out the Antics section sometime and you'll get to read about all the crazy things our sheepies do! It won't be long before you're posting in that section I'm sure.

:D
That reminds me.... how is Belle's housetraining going? :?
Your puppy is just PRECIOUS, can't wait to see more pics as she grows!
So glad you are here! Welcome! Adorable puppy especially sleeping puppy :D

House training is 50/50 atm... and if she would quit trying to play with the puppy pads things might be abit more 75/25 =P

she is getting pretty good about going outside to use the potty.. outside is fun.. kids bike to chew on and plant pots with dead plants to rip up and leaves to chase.. potting out there is more an afterthought at times.. but she is getting there...

her and the cat are SLOWLY getting to know each other.. to her cat is cool.. must chase and sniff.. to cat its more like something very strange. But seeing as he was raised by our other dog hes doing good so far.. no swipes.. hiss yhea. but no swipes..

night time sleeping... Guiness sneaks up in our bed at night and now Bell is telling on her by standing there wimpering at me that she wants up too..

Kids arguing about who's turn it is to take watch over her.. Alan fighting with kids n guiness cause he wants to speand some time with her and me wanting sleep ..

pretty much normal atm here =)
It takes awhile for everything to settle down. Two weeks from now you'll be amazed at progress.....a month even more. Still with puppies remember their bladders don't mature real fast, so expect boo-boos for months. Be patient.

You already know to pay plenty of attention to other dog and cat letting them know they are still in "the pack". All the attention to the new pup can result in jealous issues........not with the cat, sorry I didn't mean to put the cat in the pack.

Not too early to get the puppy used to having toes played with softely and a soft brush on the body. Also investigate the ears. All this attention now will result in a life long quiet dog for grooming.
To be honest, she's doing real well on the potty training. She's not been in the house long and has only just really learned the lay of the land. A lot of times we're just not quick enough at catching her. The other times she takes a quick tinkle and carries on playing.

We're doing our bit to keep Guinness feeling involved. She's moslty been great with Bell though she wasn't too happy about being kept awake last night and did a fair amount of grumping.
 Even doggies get upset about missing their beauty sleep
She is so cute she took my breath away. She looks really small up next to your daughter. I forgot what it was like to have such a little sheepie. Loved the sleeping pic. She's so cute can't wait to watch her grow up.
I swear that she's growning already. She eats like a Donkey, I get the feeling she's gunna be a big girl. :)

She's was a bit nervous around me before the weekend. I guess that's because I'd not been around her as much as everybody else. After a little bit of getting down to her level she soon came around though. I have the nibble marks on my nose to prove it.
Welcome .....Welcome......Welcome.......Welcome.........Welcome.........

Heheheheh. Yeah, stronger than mine that's for sure.

She's wanting to bite everything and anything except the multitude of puppy toys scattered around the place. I think we'd be better off giving her a few pairs of socks. Oooooh the joys of puppy teeth. :D Sharp little buggers.

Though... she does do a mean 'Ear Nibble'
Hehehehe... I just read the Dickens update and it sounds like he's doing Fabu! So... I thought I'd give a Bell update. :)

Well... where do I start? She's growning like a weed!!! She was smaller than the cat when she arrived and now she towers above him. Tonka (the cat) and Bell have learned to get along pretty well. They chase eachother up and down the hall when they want to play and Tonk gets on the back of the couch when he wants to seek refuge.

Guinness and Bell are getting along great. Guinness is putting Bell in her place gently when she's being too much of a bugger (but bell ignores her most of the time when she's being big dog).

She's such a sweet heart and sooooo much fun to have around the place. she really has added a whole new dynamic to the house. We feel blessed to have 2 such great dogs about the place. :)

Potty training is going ok so far. for some reason she keeps using the hall as a potty break which we're trying to work through... but in the main she's doing great. We've started some basic training at home until she's ready for some more intensive training and she picks it up real quick... So.... one very happy family here :)

I'll post some more piccies soon.
So glad to have an update!! More pics are definately in order!!
Happy to hear Bell and you all are having a great time :D
Sounds great! and yes we do need more pictures. :D
Thanks for the update. It sounds like Bell is doing great with your family. I bet she has changed in looks -hint, hint -more pictures!
Thanks for the update. I was wondering how Belle was doing. Glad to hear she's getting along well and fitting into her new home nicely. :D
So glad to hear Belle is fitting in so nicely with your family! SO - does she have you wrapped around her little paw yet??
she has the kids wrapped thats for sure.. =P

Guiness is her bud.. those two play and fuss and all sorts. Tonka the cat is still keeping his distance but has begun venturing down and attempting to play with her.. prob is he plays rough so Bell thinks he is attacking her and runs off, most of the time she tries to herd Tonka around the house, which doesnt work very well with a cat .. 8O

Potty training progressing well. Obedeince.. we have almost mastered sit, lie, wait.. come is a hard one .. she comes when she feels like it mostly.. the little madam. Kids still learning how to deal with her "mouthing n nipping" issues. They keep trying to make it into a game with her.. the little boogers. but we are working through that... we also need to work on startling noises.. she gets abit skittish when Guiness goes barkey or at strange noises.. but shes alot better now than when we first got her..

Just had another vet visit. The vet is well pleased with her. Healthy as a horse and eats like one too. atm she weighs around 16lbs.. and tonight we get another bath.. she has this bad habit of playing with her pee pads. So she has gotten abit stinkey and i need to clean one of her ears out as it has a small infection in it. Doc says its nothing major just to keep it cleaned out..

OO and she is a talker.. big style.. loves to talk back to us when we are talking to her and she grumps n fusses when pick her up or try to move her bed.. WHICH she like to flip over onto herself like a turtleshell. Several times we have heard a muffled park in the bedroom and walked in to see her nose poking out from underneath it.

Basically.. shes a happy healthy nutso puppy.. normal going.. Alan has taken some pictures but the camera ran outta batteries so i need to get him some new ones so we can get them transfered to the computer to upload them..

thought i would give abit more details on how she was doing...

***coughs*** Ahem*** we could use a picture update too!! :D
Wonderful! Thanks for the update on Belle. Look forward to seeing the new pictures!

With regards to her being skittish sometimes, (from what I've heard...) just be sure not to comfort her when she's skittish (tough, I know). If you comfort her, it's rewarding the behaviour and she'll conclude that being scared/skittish is an appropriate reaction. Just ignore it, and she'll realize there's nothing to be afraid of - sounds like she's already started to realize that.

Bath time is fun and so easy when they're that small (and still in puppy coat!). It's also great to get her used to it. We haven't bathed Barkley in a couple months and I'm just dreading it because I know it will be a whole-day ordeal (brushing, bath, drying, brushing) with his full half-adult coat.

Sounds like she's a ton of fun!

Best,
I added a couple more pictures, I need to get some off the camera and get some more taken though... cos she's grown again. Blimey she's growing like a weed. :)

Ron... I flubbed up again uploading the things, put one in the wrong place, hit back to fix it and then it flubbed out on me on the last one. Can you fix again for me please? Thanks! :D
Growing like a weed is an understatement, they grow even faster!!
She's just lovely. The picture you captioned "when puppies attack" is my favourite.

What a doll!
Belle looks like a sweetie :D
You're right - she's growing fast!! They sure don't stay small very long, do they? It's like you blink your eyes and they're bigger.
