What are you doing to celebrate New Years Eve?

Tony and I don't usually do much for New Years. We usually go to a realitvely early dinner, somewhere nice, and then head home...and try our best to stay awake til midnight.

New Year's day, we have another couple coming over so we can gloat about our new tv.

But that's about it!

What are y'all doing for your celebration?

We have an annual tradition that involves staying home, watching TV and being asleep LONG before midnight
We have the same tradition as Ginny and Doug
Us too! Usually the hubby is at the hunting camp, I call him around 8 pm and tell him Happy New Year. He is asleep by 9 or so and Me and the Pud Monster are in the bed snuggling by 10 at the latest.
Gosh...we are such old farts!!!!
Gone are my partying days...getting drunk and dancing at a bar all night.

The plans were to go to a fondue restaurant with another couple and watch movies. Since the Bears/Packers game has been moved to new year's eve, I guess I'm watching football
I'll visit my mom in the late morning and visit Bob in the early afternoon. Rita and I are going to see a matinee of "Night At the Museum" then probably to Applebee's for dinner. I'll be home and in my jim-jams by 8!
Stacy and Paula...

We should have a conference call at midnight, to wish each other happy, happy.

Ah, but I can't promise I'll be awake!!!!!
I will guarantee that I won't be awake at midnight!!!!!

We should plan a January lunch. And craft day.
I haven't done anything for New Year's in a long time... I usually don't do anything special at all.... this year I was thinking of going to Niagra Falls for New Year's Eve, but now the weather is calling for freezing rain on the 31st, and snow on the 1st, so that's probably not going to happen.
We have a bunch of friends over early (6pm) for dinner, and then we watch the ball drop in Times Square which is 10pm our time. This way we can celebrate the New Year and have everyone out the door before the alcoholics hit the road at midnight.
That is very smart!!!!
WE are having the family over for dinner, and we all stay up so we can watch the fireworks. Where I live there are a big party for the community on the 30 of December, and we are partying and drinking enough for the rest of the year.. 8)
We have a big family party on New Year's Eve. It is one of the few days in the year that Todd drinks any alcohol. We started the tradition when we all got married - and it was set aside as a night for adults only, we had to get sitters for the kids. Todd has 7 siblings - there are 7 boys and a girl in his family, and they were all born in 10 years. All but the youngest live nearby (he's in the Air Force). The party has been growing - "honorary" family members, and grandkids that are over 21. It is held at one of the houses. We pass the site around from year to year. It is a big pot luck of alcohol, munchies, movies, games and poker games!
I read, Don watches tv, usualy asleep by midnight
Dawn that sounds fun.

We eat an early dinner at a nearby restaurant with my parents and then get together with Tim's brother and his wife later in the evening and play games. Our kids are the same age so it was a lot of fun for them when they were younger but we still continue the tradition even though it is just the two couples. We are doing it at our house this year so Harry is not alone.
I guess this just goes to show that Sheepdogs entertain us like it is New Year's Eve every day!

Either than or they tire the heck out of us
We fall into the old fart category, too! :? An early dinner at some local restaurant, then back home for movies/sleep! I just can't stay awake that long any more!! Our daughter is having a party at her house (well, the house where she's living at school this year) and our son is going to Boston to visit friends. Gee, wonder why they would rather do something fun like that than stay home with their stodgy, old parents??
I wanted to drink myself into a coma with lots and lots of appletini's

...but, I just happened to choose a friend who doesn't drink

and I don't have Mr. J here to drive lil J and me home

so probably just watch a movie and go to bed.

ME TOO!!!! My son broke his finger yesterday, and is fighting with his girlfriend (whom we call, "the Squirrel". Yep....Rocky and Bullwinkle)...anyway, we asked him to join us for dinner and to come home and watch tv with us.

Can you imagine...he said "no"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :excited:

I just don't get it
oh my IF i could have gotten air fare i would be in Cozumel, but due to the LAST storm, and everyone being backlogged, and DUE TO THE NEXT STORM to hit tonight (another 2 feet), I will be sitting here, with my kids and probably long long fast asleep.

As soon as i can get a decent airfare, I'm out of here to a beach!!

Ali
Going into the city, watching the Fire works spectacular, having some drinks with friends and hitting the Panadol New year day LOL. :?

I love the fireworks on the banks of the Yarra River. :excited: :rimshot:
Sleeping...I've been extremely tired lately. Jason has to work NYE and New Years day anyway. We did have tickets to the Saints/Panthers game, but that got messed up by his work. That's okay though, because we're going to the playoff game. :) Jake has to go back to school on the 2nd anyway, we need to get back to a schedule.
I will be cooking dinner for my husband and I. It will seem nice to cook a dinner for the 2 of us, that is my occupation. It seems like I cook for everyone else except us. I'm thinking Filets, and Fetticine in a lemon cream sauce with shrimp. Just the 2 of us and the 3 furry ones :D
Loried, where do you live? I'd like to come over and eat New Year's Eve dinner with you!!!!
:yay: ME, TOO!!!! ME, TOO!!!!! Paula, we can carpool!!!! Tony will be the designated driver!! :go:
You are all welcome :D I live in Northeast PA, not too far for you guys to drive

That's no fun! Would she really care if you had an appletini? I have friends who don't drink, but they don't mind if I do...

I knowwwwwwwwwww... I've always been the one who didn't drink, and I never cared if someone else did. Then I met Mr. J, and suddenly was introduced it.

anyway, unfortunately... no, I can't drink it in front of her, curse in front of her, or be watching a rated R movie when she comes over. I never curse, but I find myself being naughty because I have to be SO GOOD around her. I tease her more than she probably likes. 8) We are kind of forced to be friends. My husband and hers are on a special team, and he's the only officer his age, etc, etc. We're each other's only source of info. to how our husbands our doing. The updates I get from the Battalion are never in regard to Mr. J. I tell mr. J all the time that I don't know how much of her I can take. Again, not being able to do these things, makes me want to do them even though I didn't before I met her. Mr. J has to have a beer when he goes to a restaurant, so I'm sure he'll not want to always hang out with her husband outside of a military setting.

Inside, I tell myself I should probably try to be more like her, but... I have no interest.
NO NO!!! Don't be more like her. She's boring!!!! You're adorable!!!

I don't think she is someone I'd like to spend a special occation (like new year's eve) with.

Come to our house!!!! We can drink, and swear and run around naked!!

(just kidding about the nekkid part  )

imagining a bunch of adults FROM HERE drinking, cursing, and running around nekkid has me rollin' over here

Me too! How fun would that be, though! Would all our dogs have to be nekkid too?

Gonna have FUN FUN FUN aand get paid for it.
No babysitter for us. So another quiet New Years Eve at home.
I'd rather be home anyway, don't want to be on the road with all those drinkers.
