nervous doberman
we have a 2 year old female dobbie that does not like people stroking her, when we have visitors she barks at them and if they try to touch her she will snap at them, everyone who visits our house is frightened of her and nobody see's the lovely side of her nature. when we go for a walk she barks at all the other dogs if they chase her she yelps. can anyone give us some advice. we have another dog she is a terrier and loves everyone, we have no problems with her. |

| Have you done any obedience training with her?? A basic obedience class is a good place to start. Have you had her since a pup or did you get her when she was older?? Maybe something happened in her past that causes her to snap. Please do not tolerate this on any level it will only reinforce this behavior. Good luck I just love dobies!!!!! |
| Sometimes dogs can get a little cranky if they're not feeling well. Have you seen the vet yet to ensure that there's nothing physically wrong with her? |
| Have you lookd for a Doberman website? Maybe they have specific needs...we have sheepdogs here.

This is the other group I belong to, there are alot of educated smart well known dobe people on this forum with tons of informative information. I too have a dobe, actually have owned a few over the years. Her behaviour is not acceptable she has to earn and learn. Pending on what her background is work with it on that knowledge. If she is just being a bitch and not well tempered with your friends and on outings because she is not properly socialized or spoiled she should not get pets, toys, or treats for nothing. She should earn her rewards and with a happy good girl voice after she has accomplished something so simple as not barking at a dog passing by. Good luck, I would seriously look into the snapping thing she might connect one of these times and that is serious. Check the forum out they are a great bunch of people. |
