Harry's first attempt at being a therapy dog

As some of you know I took Harry to take his Therapy Dog test a month ago and the test had been cancelled. In the meantime I was talking with someone at another branch office and mentioned that I wanted Harry to be a therapy dog. She invited me to go with her on Christmas Eve to a nursing home that she visits.

So yesterday morning, Harry and her two dogs spent an hour and forty minutes greeting residents at a local nursing home. I was very proud of him because he was so sweet letting everyone pet him. His only flaws were pulling while walking down the hall and being afraid of the elevator. But he was so patient with the long morning, although I could tell he was tired he was as friendly with the last people as the first.

So here's hoping for finding a testing location in the New Year. I think he is really cut out for this.

Congratulations, and what a wonderful thing to do.
How great - I'm glad for you - what an accomplishment!
Good for you :) Yay Harry! :)
Judi, go to one of the local hotels that allow dogs and have elevators. I bet they would let you practice in the slower times of day - early afternoon.
Way to go Harry! :clappurple: :high5:
What an accomplishment Harry! Way to go! :clappurple:
Judi and Harry congratultions on your kindness :clappurple:
:go: WAY TO GO HARRY!!!
How wonderful!!. Guinness and I do that also!! The men and women in the nursing homes just love to run their fingers through his hair!!!! I bet any facility that you go to will let you practice in the elevator. Another dog riding will help. What orginazation are you with? We are with a group known as pets on wheels. :D
How wonderful! I'm hoping we can take Foz to do this as well.
Yay for Harry! I bet you had a good time. The residents are always so appreciative of the visits.
Did you find someone near you to test you and Harry? I wish you lived closer - I'd do it!
Congratulations, Harry and Judi!! I can just feel the pride coming through your post! Woohoo!! :go:

Way to go Harry. I had a similar experience with Maggie on Christmas, visiting a neighbor who is bedridden. He loves dogs and Maggie was very gentle with him.
Yay Harry. :cheer: I know he will brighten many lives in the future.
