Dog needs help fast

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just received this e-mail from a person in Salt Lake. I was
wondering if there is anyone out there who could give this dog a home.

The Humane Society has a purebred Old English Sheepdog that will be
euthanized - not even put out for viewing by the public - if someone
doesn't step up to adopt this boy. This is because he's 8 years old
and he needs to be neutered. The HS uses anesthesia that's not
appropriate for an 8 year old so they're just not going to make him
available. He's very mellow. He was turned in by his owner who is a
homeless person who just wanted Peekaboo to have a warm place to sleep
at night, a yard, and better food. An HS volunteer has him in her home
over the weekend to work with him, house train, and learn more about
his personality. So far he seems to be a total love that just wants a
warm place to sleep and some hugs. She says that when she's in a
different room of the house than he's in, he give out a low moan but
that's all. If you or anyone you know might be willing to be the
guardian angel who gives a Christmas gift of life to this sweet boy
please call Iris Platt at 801-631-6164. Dorothy or George, you can
call me or Jim Melton at home at 942-4762 if you like.

I am working with Iris to see if we can find a vet that will neuter him
without charging the usual $300. I will also see that he is clean and
brushed or clipped down whatever the case may be.

This breaks my heart.
Would it be possible to do a quick funraiser to pay for the other vet to do the surgery?
Could the HS volunteer hang onto to him to let us try to make this possible?
Lets do a fundraiser and help this poor guy :(

as soon as i know i will post here.

I know another OES family here in the SLC valley that may be willing to pitch in. I'll call them tomorrow to ask if they can help this little guy. I can take him in temporarily during the next 8 days if the shelter person can't keep him.
I'm still waiting to hear from the other family, but I'm still willing to take the baby to get him out of the shelter.
I spoke with Iris, she sprung Peekaboo! He is with her while she tries to find an option for neutering. She has a full house and is looking for a foster or better yet permanent home. I was going to take him, but she didn't think it would work with two unneutered boys in the house.

How do we set up the fund raiser to help Iris with Peekaboo?
Thankyou Dorathy Hart for finding this boy in need and getting the word out about him. Thanks to the people on our 2 sister lists, Sheepie@yahoo.org and the breeders & exhibitors list this boy has been sprung and is being fostered in a warm loving home until he can be neutered and placed.

Thank you to all that have offered funds to help with this boy.

Dorathy has asked that any donations be sent to her. This boy IS being taken care of folks.

Thank you all for your help! We were worried about Christmas time and no one being around. But you all came through.

Thank you for caring.

Is there a place we can send a donation to help out? Heavens, if everyone sent 5 or 10 dollars, this boy could have his surgery very quickly.
I was wondering about that also.
Dorothy sent me the following:

I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of the people on
this list who donated money and offered to give Peekaboo, the OES who
was in the shelter in Salt Lake, a home.

He will go to his new home in St. George, UT this weekend. He had to
have several trips to a vet for some health issues, and he has his
shots and is neutered so he is all ready for his new home.

When I went and groomed him I found that he truly was an OES and
really quite a nice boy. I don't think he was 8 years old as he had
very nice teeth that were not well worn. After a bath and brushing he
looked very cute and was happy for everyone to see how pretty he was.

This story has a happy ending. Thanks again for everyone's help.
