Pet Gate Recommendations?

Does anyone have a pet gate installed in their home?

I've looked at several but can't find what I need.

We need a durable wide gate that can extend up to 63" long. It would be nice to have the small pet door in the gate so the cats can pass through, but is not necessary.

It needs to be a permanent wall mount so the dogs can't figure out how to push it over.
I really like the roll up mesh gates but they don't extend long enough. It would be nice to fold it away when not in use also.

Anything over 32" high would be the best.

Has anyone constructed one themselves?

If you construct it yourself, have the bottom raised up 3" or so for the cats to slip under.
Have you tried www.jbpet.com? They usually have the WIDEST variety/selection of gates I've seen. I remember them having really long ones too.

I love Jean's gate and will be going to check out some stores today. She does mention the brand later in her post after I asked where she got it from. I want one!

Marianne and the boys
:D the gate Marianne is talking about is "the first years" hands free gate and you can get extensions for it. and you can see it here in this pic and it can be wall mounted or pressure mounted

I have the first years one and absolutely love it. It is THE best gate I've ever had. I don't think it can be extended up to over 44 inches though...
I really like that gate, but would rather have something that can be folded away.

It's such a wide space and would look funny to have a permanent gate just in the middle of the floor.

I was just going to see if anyone had any unique ideas.
They have one in the Petedge catalog that is wooden, expands up to 96". It is only 24" tall however. Price is $47.99. FourPaws brand.

Another is more expnsive, $109 and looks nice, It expnds to 60 inches, but with extension sections goes to 13 feet wide.

We have pressure ones that you mount and then squeeze the handle to take it down, but they eventually peel the paint off of the door trims. Or they stick, and sometimes are very hard to use.

Right now use just lean those ones up against the opening to block the door or stairs.

We also have the same one as Jean and Stacey. That is the best one for sure.
Hello,
I know it is almost a year since this question pop up, but maybe sombody else is is reading it. I had the same problem with my dog and I needed a pet gate that covers a large area and needed to be folded away. www.spectacularpetstuff.com has the most beautiful handcrafted pet gates that are freestanding and don't leave ugly marks or wholes in your walls. And the best thing those gates work great. ok, they are not cheap - but last the ages. Meaning, you buy it only once and don't need to replace it after 6 month. I for myself have bought the pet gate pen combo, which is great to use during the day as a hughe gate and and night I attach the gate panels and voila it is a pen. My dog cannot do "fun stuff" while I am asleep or on the go.
I hope that helped a little
:D
