Sweet Ursa 21/10/06-15/12/06

For anyone who hasn't been keeping track of the Medical and Nutrition forum, I am sad to announce that Ursa has died.

We only just met her mom (Tanks) and dad (Argibhaji) but they're already part of the forum family.

I can't imagine how tough this must be for them. Please think of them and pray for them during this difficult time.

I just read this story and I am so, so sorry for your loss. My sincere and heartfelt condolences. And to Ursa...Godspeed sweet little girl, may you run and play in fields and meadows free from pain and all sufferings and wait for the day to be reunited with your family again .
Poor little girl. I'm so sorry.
Thank you all for your extremely kind words of support, they mean a great deal to us.

We just feel extremely fortunate that we were able to know Ursa during her very brief life. She trully had a heart of gold and will remain in our hearts forever. She has given each meber of our family a message that we'll carry with us, even though some of us may not see it yet.

It may be some time before we are able to venture in to the world of the Old English Sheepdog again... but you can be sure that we will down the road.

Thank you all sooooooo much for your thoughts, prayers and advice. You have no idea how much it means to us.

God speed, Ursa.

All our love,
Alan.

I'm so very sorry your sweet, beautiful puppy died. What a heart beaking experience for your family. Your in my prayers.
Hi,

I'm so sad your puppy Ursa has passed and I'm so sorry for your loss and the heartbreak you must feel. We know that no matter how brief the time may be with a little sheepie in the house - the impact is lifelong.

Two days ago when I read your post and before I could respond with a welcome greeting , I thought what a wonderful name - Ursa - the bear! Perfect name for a sheepie. I had computer problems and wasn't able to post a greeting and now log on to find she has passed. Please accept my condolences.

You are so right.. the impact that these buggers can leave on you is life long. she'll always be in my heart and I will never ever forget her.
I am so sorry. My husband has been hospitalized so unfortunately I've missed the opportunity to welcome you and any other posts. I am so extremely sad for you to lose your sweet sheepie puppy. She looks so precious. I am sorry your introduction to sheepies had to be so short, but I too believe she was a special angel that was meant to touch your life for whatever reason. Just so sad it had to be so quick. Please get don't miss out on having a sheepie in the future. It is the best thing. Next time you lose an animal I hope it's after many many years of love and happy memories ( I hope you understand this the way I mean it, I'm rambling, sorry).

I would still like to welcome you to this animal loving forum. Lots of wonderful people that really care. I hope you continue to be a member.
I'm sorry I hadn't been following the thread about how sick she was. I am very sorry for your loss. Such a sweet looking puppy. Very sad.

You may want to consult your vet how to handle this with your breeder. I know you can't replace Ursa, but at the very least your breeder should be offering you a new puppy if you want to even get another pup from her. Maybe I'm reading into the other thread wrong, but it bothered me how it seemed as though that she was just denying anything wrong with the pup. She should have offered you tremendous concern and should really be sad that one of her pups was so sick & died.
I am sorry for not replying sooner. Just been abit lost for words. A bit mad, sad and lost all at once.

The breeder was being rather accusatory of us and our vets last night and i was attemping to sort her out in a proper manner. Her husband has finally offered to replace Ursa, but right now we still stinging from our loss.

The kids screamed and cried and were upset and still are upset as are we. Christmas sort of took a horrid turn for us this year and we are struggling to hold our head up and carry on.

We only had that sweetheart for a short time, but due to size of her heart our love for her was instantaious. Ursa will forever be our eternal pup and we shall carry on. This has hurt my attempts at starting up my showing/breeding but it hasnt stopped me. Only made me stronger.

I sooo want to thank all the compassion and support we got here. You all are truely a wonderful bunch of people and I know we have found a dog community worth its weight in gold. We shall be sticking about.

We will let you know what happens from here on out with us. This isnt the end of our dreams. =)

<3 you guys!!!!!!!11
oh im in tears over here, she was such a beautiful little girl. im sorry for your loss, but im very happy that her short life was spent with a loving family.
Take hubby up on his offer and get another baby sheepie. He/she won't replace Ursa, but it will help to fill the hole a little bit.
I am sorry to learn about poor Ursa. Such a tiny thing. I am very sad for your family. Ron is right: another puppy will help fill the hole, although nothing will replace her.

This is just me, but considering the multiple infestations with parasites your poor puppy suffered from, I'd be asking for a cash refund from the breeder and looking to another breeder for a puppy. Unless there are extenuating circumstances I haven't seen in this thread, I'd be very leary of that breeder. All puppies need to be wormed, regardless of how wonderful the breeder, the sire and dam, how antiseptic the living conditions. The rest speaks to some other problems--including the breeder being willing to let her go home with a new family at such a young age..
I am so very so sorry for your loss. I am sure that your puppy girl knew she was loved and felt all the love you gave. Thank you for taking such good care of such a sweet little girl. Blessings to you and your family.

Yes definitely get another, you've already faced the worst case and hopefully never again have to face that. Whata horrible breeder...you planned on showing, so this was a registered pup?

I would be taking some action, I'd be down right furious. A pup should not leave until 8 weeks, have a vet inspect and deworm and do the parvo shot's. You should have a min 2 year health gaurantee...and a puppy should be without question refunded...and I'd fight for the vet bills to paid.

IF you chose to take a replacement puppy...get it writing, that you can return and get refunded after seeing a vet, and a gaurantee against this happening again. Personally I would ask for the money back, and find a better breeder.

But get another pup, you need some happiness and the kids do too. It won;t replace Ursa, but it will create some big smiles on those little faces. So sorry for loss, I just read about this today and it made me so upset about those breeders. I just LOVE that name Ursa.
I am so very sorry for your loss my heart aches for all of you, I do agree with Ron and the others to get another pup. I know you cannot forget your beautiful baby, but I bet another pup may turn Christmas around for your children, and bring joy in all of your hearts. :hearts:
Sorry for your loss.
So sorry for your loss! Such a beautiful puppy! I also hope you get another one soon.

If you feel you can trust this breeder, by all means go back and accept their offer, but with a contract stating that you will take the pup and have it vet checked. If anything is found wrong, you will return the pup for a full refund.

God bless you and your family.

I don't know what to say, I've just joined this forum and this thread has got me quite grief stricken, memories have come flooding back, my thoughts are with you and your family, I have taken the liberty of printing Ursa's photo and she is sitting on my mantlepiece together with a candle I have lit for her.
