hair covering eyes

should the dogs eyes be covered with some hair as a protective cover? i have heard different schools of thought on this topic. 1st time sheepdog owner here. thanks

As for hair over their eyes, depends on the dog and their two legged. 2 of my girls don't like their hair tied up, and one of them doesn't like her hair down.
Many people put in a topknot (ponytail) and many trim that hair....
I have to keep mine trimmed. He is a big chicken!! He gets scared too easily already. I had his hair covered his eyes once, and he jumped up on every sound (and started running with me on the other end of the leash). 8O
We've done both - clipped and pony/pigtails.
I guess it depends on the look you prefer and your dog's tolerance.
I trim around the eyes, purley for the fact that I love to see Ollies eyes, they are just so beautiful, well they all are - think it boils down to preference. What I don't do however, is trim the lashes.
