Clyde is supposed to be relaxing while he heals from his surgery so I thought it would be a good idea on Sunday to get Bear out of the house for awhile and take him to my mom's so he could get some exercise and Clyde could get some rest. My mom lives on a 70 acre farm and although she has no animals, they're all kinds of fields, woods and a pond-- not to mention wild animals everywhere like deer, woodchucks, opossums, rabbits and raccoons. Bear had a ball!

I let him off leash because he's about 99% on recall and there's no danger of him running into the street out there because the road is almost half a mile from the house. I'll tell you, I've never seen Bear light up and look so alive. He belongs on a farm. He raced around the property smelling everything, then he'd turn around to see where I was and then take off to smell some more. He'd stay just far enough away from me that he could turn around and check on me real quick and then get back to exploring. We walked out towards the pond and, with no hesitation, he went charging in up to his belly before he realized I was yelling at him to come back. You know he was in his glory when he didn't even notice that he was waist deep in near freezing water.

I took him into the woods and he chased rabbits and tried to catch a deer. I told him he almost got it but he wasn't even close. Wink He was so happy to be in the wide open space-- you could just see it in him, how it thrilled him to be there. It almost made me sad that I was keeping him in the city but I think I'll just try to bring him out to mom's more often now. I can't wait until Clyde is better and I'll take them both. It's a shame I hate living in the country so much because they sure love it!
wow! it sounds like an amazing time for bear...are you sure youre not even a little bit country??!!
No, but she's a little bit rock and roll! (Who can resist a good Osmonds reference? Laughing )

Maybe you just need to buy the house next door and tear it down so Bear will have property to guard and you can stay in the city. After living 5 minutes from a mall and restaurants and the rest of civilization, I know that I don't want to go back to the country.

Run free Bear, run free! As long as you stay inside the fence. Wink

Did he get to wear white shoes and dance to Tequila while on his big adventure?
Sounds like he had a great time...you should take some candid photos next time!!
What a treat for Bear!!! I bet that's what he'll be dreaming about for the next week when he naps! (that's at least what i think when we take yuki out to her favorite place)

I actually brought my camera too because I had a feeling that he'd have a good time and totally forgot to bring it outside with us. next time for sure!
Wow, sounds like a great time, and great exercise!

Which of you was more tired at the end of his romp? Wink

Doubt it! I came home and he literally exploded! He was all over Bear and wouldn't relax and was racing around the house like an idiot. he's such a doofus.
