Clyde's Home From his Surgery

I just wanted to let everyone know that Clyde came through his surgery very well and he's just chillin' now. He's still a little groggy. He wants to move around but finds that he has to move very slow. It would actually be really cute if it wasn't sad at the same time.

The lump that they took out was HUGE. (Yes, you know I asked to see it!) I knew it was a large cyst but I was actually surprised by what I saw. It was slightly smaller than a tennis ball! He now has 12 stitches and the vet left the original puncture wound to act as the drainage area, which it is already doing already so every time Clyde moves, I have to make sure that I'm there with a towel. Luckily, he seems to have settled in on the couch with me now. (By the way, another bonus of leather-- wipes clean!)

I'm going to stay home to take care of him tomorrow. Right now he just looks sad but the vet said that, luckily, although it will be uncomfortable, it's not in a place that's constantly moving and stretching so it won't be as bad as it could be. The main reason I'm staying home though is to keep Bear from trying to get Clyde to play. I think keeping Clyde still is gonna be our biggest problem.

Thanks again for all the good thought you sent out way. We really appreciate it!

Jill

So glad that he came through allright.

Good luck with trying to keep them quiet...it's hard.
Ouch! A tennis ball! Holy cow! Glad he's doing well, I hope it heals faster this time :)
Wow - so big! I'm glad you're able to be home with him. Bingley sends 'get-well-soon' wishes!
Maybe he's sad that he's missin' his tennis ball that he had hidden in his manly puncture wound/badge of courage.
Did you get a picture of the cyst?? Hey, someone had to ask!

I'm glad Clyde is doing well. Let me know if I can do anything for you tomorrow.

Aw, thanks!

No, it was preserved in formalin so it was kind of hard to see with a camera, which I forgot anyway. Sorry, don't think I didn't want to though.
that is unreal! that's huge!

clyde deserves some special treats tonight!

Pardon me while I vomit!! If I knew you were into gross things I would have shown you the clot in my leg when I met you.

Anyhow, wishing Clyde a speedy recovery!
Ouch! How does making the hole bigger help the healing process?

Glad Clyde gts extra cuddles. Hope he heals quickly!

The hole isn't bigger-- it's the part that was on the inside, which, evidently, was huge.
Glad to hear he's doing okay!
Great news, glad all went OK.

Love the avatar, talk about a bright shiny personality, does he sit there all the holiday season, or is it a mobile lights display. 8)

But so isn't there a big hole inside of him?
I am glad Clyde is safely home :D .
My Macy had a lump removed last summer that ended up being a tumor the size of a man's fist 8O . She had a JP drain in for a week, and she happily healed up just fine.
Hi Jill,

Special sloppy kisses sent to Clyde from the boys and belly rubs from me. I know Clyde's in good hands from his momma who is giving him lots of love. Hope he feels better soon!

Marianne and the boys
We knew that Sheepdog Mojo would pull him through just fine!

That's great you are staying home with him tomorrow.(Boy, you sure go to extremes to get a day off from work   )

Feel better Clyde. Hope your Mom doesn't electrocute you by accident. 8O You know I'm just kidding right? Just couldn't resist.
Glad to hear it went well :ghug:
Oh man! That is a huge cyst! Poor Clyde.

I'm very glad to hear that he came through okay. He deserves the extra attention and cuddles with mom today.

Good luck keeping him from playing with Bear.
OMG!!! 8O 8O A TENNIS BALL SIZE CYST??? And all from a puncture wound - mind boggling!!

Glad to hear he came through surgery well and that you're able to stay home with him today. Give that special baby an extra hug or two today from me, and a big kiss from Miss Drez! :hearts:
Glad to hear Clyde got through the surgery OK. Sounds like you'll have your work cut out for you trying to keep the boys quiet. Good Luck!
I'm glad Clyde is doing fine...Wow...that's a large cyst. Barney says Hey...
Yey for Clyde...glad he's feeling better...yuck...but I was really hoping for pictures too....
Now that the anesthesia has worn off, Clyde seems pretty normal. The wound is already draining-- everywhere. :( I thought I covered almost all carpeted areas upstairs with blankets but somebody (named Bear) felt the need to move some of them to his liking over night. So, Clyde left little spots all over the floor. Gross, but I'm glad that it's draining well already. All he needed was another pocket to form.

For those who love the graphic pictures, I did take some of the sutures if you would like to see them. If there's enough interest, I'll post a couple.
OF COURSE WE WANT TO SEEEEEEEEEE!

I'm so sorry, I missed this post til now. POOR CLYDE!!!!!! I cannot believe the infection was THAT big, AMAZING. The OR Nurse in me would love to see it!!!!!

Hugs and pats tot eh fluff butts!
Toby said that he's glad his buddy Clyde is feeling better and if need be, he'll come and distract Bear for him while he heals.
For a dog that just had surgery, he sure isn't acting like it. He's instigating Bear and trying to get him to play so now I have two to keep calm. Surgery sucks.
I was wondering how long it would be before he was back to normal. The sticky note on my desk says 23 hours after he's home. How close was I?

You'll probably have to keep them in separate rooms. Good luck with that. :P
I'm glad Clyde is doing better. Jill, I'm also glad you got to look at the gross cyst - at least you got a little perk from Clyde's surgery. Give Clyde a get well hug from us.
I'm glad Clyde is recovering well from his surgery. Bailey sends a big get well bark!
How is Clyde doing today?
Yeah, how is he? We need a report. We're thinkin' aboucha Clyde.
