Sounds like you have terrific kids! They have both selected
interesting majors...

Keep us posted!
Absolutely fantastic, any wonder your a proud Mom, I know here that is one hard course to be accepted in, not many are successful in getting in. So Well done to your son, excellant :D

Keeping fingers crossed for the other too and his wish for engineering.

I am so happy too at the moment, my youngest son is coming home tomorrow night he has been away for months in Tasmania at University there and I have not seen him, sooooo proud of him too, he passed with flying colours and home only for 2 weeks then off again for a couple of months. Not home for christmas but at least I get to fuss over him for awhile. 8)

Wonderful when there career dreams start to come true :D
Pre-Vet????

What a dream come true for a dog-lovin' mom!

Like Marianne, I wanted one of my boys to be a vet...Spencer was going that route for a while....then went off in another direction....or several...

2 sons going to university...How wonderful is that!
I am extremely proud of both of them. Even though they are twins they are extremely different. Todd has always been a animal person he wants to specilize in exotics. He has lizards an a snake which creep me out but he likes them. Tony is the builder I remember when he was around 4 he took the screws out of my kitchen table top, no one knew until someone leaned on the table and the top fell off. He was so proud that he could do it.

All I worry about now is how a winowed single mom is going to pay for all of this. He did get a big scholarship that will help a lot. Looks like I will be getting a second job but it will be worth it.
Good Job MOM! Congratulations on raising a great son!
Congratulations, Dee, on your sons' accomplishments!! :yay: I can feel your pride coming through your posts - very well deserved!!

Being a widowed single mom with two kids in college, they ought to qualify for a ton of aid, shouldn't they?? Plus scholarships, of course.

What an exciting time for you all! :cheer:
Woo hoo!!!

That's great!
WOOHOOOO!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is quite an accomplishment.
congratulations!

And don't worry about paying for college. between scholarships and grants it can get manageable, and even though loans aren't ideal, they aren't that big of a deal. I'm still paying mine off, but once I do, it will have been worth it.
Congratulations! I was best friends in college with two pre-vet meajors! One went on to vet school and the other is entering PA school this coming spring! :D It's a challenging and rewarding degree!
That rocks!!!! Both my degrees are from UIUC--I'm a proud alum. It's a great school and very competitive so you should be proud. It's definitely one of the best schools in the country for both vet and engineering.

Go Illini go!!!!!
WOW! You should be proud!!! My daughter is down there (in Urbana). He'll love it...no, let me take that back...my daughter hated her first semester...too homesick. But now, Urbana is her home!

HUGE CONGRATS!!!!!

:cheer: :go:  :cow: (I like the cow!)
That's terrific!
Congratulations to you and your son!! That's wonderful, Dee!! You have every right to be proud!! :D
I was so worried but Tony got his letter today. Both have been accepted.
I have a meeting on Jan 9 to find out about grants, schlarships etc. I was just reading up on it and found out each boy can take up to a $3500 loan themselves. They will have to be on the work program too. Todd has already been told he will get about 20,000 a year in schlarship. Tony is around 13,000. That does not including State and grants. Housing is a fortune around 7700 a year.

I thought for sure Social Security would have some kind of program when I called last week they said they don't have anything.

Todd has a very high GPA 4.1 and he scored 32 on the ACT. Tony is at a 3.2 which is still good and he did score 30 on the ACT so both of them should get something. Both boys play Soccer and have already talked to the coach so they will get schlarship for that too but I don't know how much yet.

The school was great they gave them a web site to go to to apply for grants. I spoke with Pat who was very good she said this site has minimum of 500.00 grants for stupid things like having brown eyes. All they have to do is write essay's. Their fingers better be busy.

They have also worked since they turned 16 and being the nasty mom I am I took 1/2 of their checks and made them put it in the bank for school both have a nice little nest egg.

After my hubby passed I purposely hung on to the house, we purchased it a while ago and it is pretty large. After we bought it they put in a golf course connected to my property which also made the value go up. I intend to sell it right after they graduate. I won't need 3500 sq ft most of the profit will go to the school and a small ranch home will be perfect for me and my pets.

Todd also has landed a part time job at my vet. She is great and since Phoebe ended up with a yeast infection in her ear he took her there today and negoiated employment for himself. He is giving his two week notice tomorrow at his present job

Both are very excited and so is Mom
Wow!

You're busy!

Congrats to everyone involved... poor Phoebe :( Give her a rub on the other ear for me.
Fantastic! Your boys are off to a great start! Sounds like you have prepared them extremely well. I wish them both the very best. And Phoebe too. Hope she is on the mend.
Dee, you need to talk to their high school counselors. Ours were very helpful, they have access to lots of scholarships and grants that ya'll may be to get.
Apply for everything, it adds up.
Dee,
Congrats to you and your boys! What great news!! :clappurple:
