Mail order meals? It is going to be a TURDUCKEN !

After racking my brain about what to give my Father for Christmas I have hit on the idea of having Christmas Dinner delivered. My son andhis wife will be there for the holidays (neither cook) and I thought it would be nice to have a Gourmet Christmas meal delivered.

I found a place on line, Home Bistro (homebistro.com) which seems to have a wide variety and sort of reasonable prices. Has anyone ordered a meal online, do you have any suggestions?

I have used A La Zing Meals for the last several years as gifts for older members of my family who are no longer up to cooking every day. They have been a huge hit. I have tasted them and they are pretty good. A La Zing is a division of the Omaha Steak Company. The meals come frozen and then you just heat them up per the enclosed directions. They are definitely easy to deal with as one of the family members I send meals to has a serious tramatic brain injury and she can even deal with them. Their web site is ALAZING.COM. Good luck.
P.S. Always check their specials. some of them are really good buys.
Thanks for that site, it looks good. Prices are a bit better than some of the others. Omaha Steak meat is usually good too!
What a great idea. I recently saw Hickory Farms provides those types of meals and also out here our grocery stores do to. And most of our grocery stores are now online so maybe yours would be too. You might already know that being the computer shopping whiz.

Unfortunately my Dad lives on Edisto Island SC, I don't think I could get a Grocery Store to deliver!!!! The A LA ZING site seems to be the most promising at this point. Omaha Steak is a good company so I think the food will be good, their prices seem to be pretty good too.
Every time I see this thread title, I read it as Mail Order Bride. Your dad may like one of those too. Not sure how the rest of the family would feel about it though.
Hey WHATEVER makes him happy!!!!
What about Schwann's ? They deliver and their prices are reasonable.
I've settled on a TURDUCKEN with all the trimmings from the Cajun Grocer in LA!!!!
With a name like TURDUCKEN, it has to be good.
Ron, surely you've heard of a TURDUCKEN??????

It's a turkey (boned) stuffed with a duck (boned), stuffed with a chicken then stuffed with STUFFING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's what we had for Thanksgiving. 8) It is very very good. :D
I learn something new everyday. Go figure.... Today is my day to learn about "Turducken!"

Joan tells me the duck is in the middle to keep the others moist?

...and she hands me a brochure for Turducken from Hannaford (a regional supermarket chain of perhaps 100 or 150 stores) that has a picture with an attached coupon.

Looks kind of like a chicken roll with the skin on, even though it's the turkey skin.

I still think with a name like TURDUCKEN it has to be good!
(I thought it was a brand name you were mentioning! lol)
:twitch:
Here ya go Ron, two choices..... the first shows how you can mail order your very own Turducken, the second gives directions on how to contsruct one YOURSELF

How interesting, I had never heard of such a thing. I would try the turkey/chicken, since I'm not into duck. It's true you do learn something new every day.

I think that is such a thoughtful gift.
Turduckens are so good! Hope they enjoy it. :)
Never heard of it.
I am not a big fan of eating any kind of bird though.
So I think I would pass on this.
I would hate it, but my husband would love ANYTHING on that site. He went to school (1 of many places) in Louisiana, and is in love with this kind of food. I bookmarked the website! Wish there was a way he could have it in Iraq
