Oh that's wonderful! But don't you think the OES should
have been a little higher up? I would think so anyway,
since everyone stops when they see one!

Shellie
I can't imagine OES' ever beating the ol faithful lab or golden retriever. No matter how many times people see one, they always get rated so high for cuteness, being athletic, and having brains. ;)

Many guys would love to date the Jessica Simpson type too despite them denying it. I view her as more of a poodle (high-maintenance, skinny but athletic, classy, smart). At least that's what I would think if AKC came out with the most desirable/dateable dog breeds.

OES' are like that big burly jock that doesn't always "get it." Not to mention, how hairy they are all over. I don't dig a mustach and long beard on a guy. ;) :)
Jo,
I think that Golden and labs are a dime a dozen.
OES are definitley more of an attention grabber as they are so few and far between.

GO OES!!!

Are you serious? That is the opposite of what I think.
I added the smart in there because it's a characteristic of the poodle. I know that's not how she has come off on tv,

And I definitely think and view her as classy. :) She has always worked hard to come off that way in every thing I've seen her in, and unlike other stars (lohan, hilton, spears), she cares about her image. There's never been a magazine that's insinuated she was an easy loose girl that I've seen.

Hopefully she can remain that way now that she's single.

Ahhh. I guess I have a different definition of classy. Not being "easy" is one element but so are grace, culture, and a bit of refinement.
I agree that those are all important :D
Something wrong with that list.... no Bernese Mountain Dogs listed!!!!!
The Sheepdog should have been listed first , the sheepie and the sheepieowner are just huggable :ghug:
Okay, I will go with the idea that the masses will vote for the Golden. They are so docile and the fun imaginative people, as indicated by the members of this forum, like the exuberance brought to life by the Sheepie. But after the mindless masses have their choice then number two should have gone to the OES.

I have been out with other dog owners with our dogs and everyone goes for the Sheepie - it's embarrassing but great.
This is supposed to be "Date Bait", as in what type of dog would attrack people who the handler may be interested in dating.

I have no idea how the sheepie scored so low. If there were one of each of those 10 breeds being walked by equally attractive-looking people, I would only imagine that the golden and poodle would get "some" attention, but not anywhere near the attention that an OES would get.

Just the experiences at the dog park prove that. There are other breeds running around that are nice and friendly etc. but the OES's are like magnets. So many people come to talk to us about them, and asks questions, and gets kisses from them.
Gee...we were arriving at the park yesterday and some stranger was leaving. He yelled out at us across the parking lot that Sam, another OES, was there today

A bit off-topic, we were there yesterday and I spotted Dixie on a picnic table giving some strange guy some lovin'. I went over to see if she was bothering him and he said he thinks she was scared of all the other dogs and went to him for protection.
A woman I didn't know just laughed at him, and said "No, that's not it. She is just a ham"
LOL I can attest to that. When I had my OES Trouble (about 23 years ago) out at the park, you wouldn't believe the number of guys that would walk up and start talking to me. She was a guy magnet for sure!
My oldest son has been calling Mojo a "chick magnet" since the day we got him!!

The other dogs on the list are cute and nice but, how many times do you see someone coming out of their house or turning the car around to see a beagle or a pug?

If you're looking for attention, a sheepie is the way to go.
Oooh definately sheepies should be No 1, ask my husband that is how I met him, fell for the dog and thought the guy holding the lead was pretty cute too.

He still walks the dogs 8)
Before my parents got married they were living together in Chicago. They had an OES named Oliver that my mom kept in full coat. My dad drove a little red convertible at the time. When he would go to pick my mom up from work he would take Oliver in the car with him. He said there was no better woman magnet than a full coat OES in a red convertable.
My Dad calls Bunker the Chick Magnet. LOL. My Mom hates it.
last year when I was dating [my ex-boyfriend], I went to the airport to pick him up and took the beast with me. The pilots were all coming up to me "Beautiful dog" Blah blah blah, who are you here picking up..... If I knew then what I know now I would have been handing out my phone number.
You use different bait for different fish, right? ...so I would guess that different dogs attract different kinds of people. I know when we go out with our sheepie and our pug, everyone has to pet one of them - but typically just one or the other, very rarely to people get excited about both of them.
It seems to me like OES's attract the widest variety of people - and the most interesting people (look at our forum members, afterall.. ). My favorite was the other day when we were out walking at the park and this kid got out of his car to come over and pet Callie. He was dressed all in black with piercings and tatoos and the whole bit - not really the type I would expect to be attracted to a big fluffy dog with a ponytail!
