I Got a Chance at a "Do-Over'!!!!!

Okay you're probably wondering what the heck a do-over is well....ever wanted the chance to take something you said back or can do something over again which you'd like to correct? (finally takes breath) Puff Puff

One of the little fellows I work with has autism and shortly after I met him and we bonded, due to our common interest - nature, magic and animals. He invited me to his birthday. He said, "maybe you could come to my birthday and do magic, eat cake and watch cartoons with me". This is a HUGE deal with a child with this type of dissability as most often they have trouble with communication.

Sadly, I couldn't go last year. as before I met him I had planned on taking the furballs to Vancouver Island. I said, "I promise I will go next year." I meant it!

Two weeks ago his mom invited me for dinner at their place on Sunday but this is when the storm hit our area and I called a few days before and cancelled. On my message I asked if it's possible I come the following week. She left a message on my machine saying this was fine. Was he ever mad at me on Monday..said I didn't come to his party. OH NO! I hadn't realized it was a party..just thought dinner. All his aunts and uncles were there.

What can I do to make it up to him?He previously told me he's never had a kid birthday party. Mom went into action and invited many of the children we know from school, his family once again showed up too. "Miss Parfait" walked in the door and put on a magic show. "R" peeked from his room to watch but we had the chance to chat a lot afterwards while he showed me all the things he talked about at school. His room, his games, and art work. He went back into the living room and assisted with a magic effect which he and I had practised at school. Big smiles from him and everyone else! It was the most amazing night!!

Not often you get a chance to have a "do-over". :D :D :D :D

This is "Miss Parfait" from a previous post ages ago. Paris Hilton would be claiming, "she's hot" .

What a wonderful do over you had!
I am sure you made him sooo happy. :D
:high5: How wonderful Marianne! It sounds that not only did the Birthday Boy have a great time, but so did everyone else. What a great "break through" you made with your student! Congratulations! :D :D
That was the sweetest thing ever, I am so glad you got to work it out.

And I must say Ms Parfeit is "sexy". :cow:
It is so great that you were able to do this for him. I'm sure he'll never forget it!
Thanks for the comments!

Actually I'll never forget it , it was one of those moments where you wish time could freeze.

Everyone needs those types of moments to hold onto. Good going Marianne.
I wish every child had a teacher like you, Marianne.
Marianne -- this is a great one for the book. You tell the best stories. Very inspiring. I am so happy it worked out so well.
