Came home from Dinner with two Chihuahuas!

Ok....so one of them was Chili. lol

My SIL had a tiny Chihuahua (maybe 2 lbs) wonder into her property today. (She owns a kennel)

She was planning on bringing him to her local shelter that euthanizes.
So I offered to take him home and bring him to our shelter that does not euthanize.

This poor little guy is a senior, way underweight, missing teeth, back legs seems weird, no tail. He is also intact. I have a feeling he was used as by a backyard breeder and dumped when he was no longer of any use.
:(

As soon as I got home I contacted the local Chihuahua rescues and posted on the Chihuahua group I belong too.

I'd really rather this guy go to a rescue as he is old, and many people would probably not want to adopt him.

He is a sweet little guy!!! I really hope someone in rescue can take him.
If not, I will be taking him to the shelter. :(

I'll keep you updated.

I do know that this little guy has something to be thankful for tonight.
He had a nice warm bath, a good meal and is curled up sleeping on a big comfy towel.

Here are some pictures I took of him tonight

Awww he looks like a little version of Yoda from Star Wars.

What a darling face, I hope you can find a furever home for him where he can be loved and cared for in his old age. Poor little guy, he was blessed today that you guys found him :D

Hope all goes well for him.
Isn't he cute!!
He does resemble Yoda...lol
Those pictures I posted are actual size. I measured my hand against the photo on the screen in the second picture and it's the actual size. So you can really get an idea on just how tiny he is.
He's like a only third of Chili's height. 8O
Wow, what an ugly little dog. Cute, in an ugly sort of way
He definitely looks like a chihuahua though.
I hope the poor old guy can find a home quickly...
AWWWWWWWWWWW What a cute old guy!!!! How is he getting along with the others? Poor thing, you can see how old he is in his eyes!!!!
He's very pretty! Is he as sweet as he looks? You have a huge heart to take him home. Best wishes in finding him a permanent home.

OK, now, who wants to bet on whether that permanent home will be with Elissa? Extra points if you can guess when that decision will be posted -- say by identifying the start (Sunday) of the week in which that decision is announced here on the forum or to forum members. In the spirit of the season, I am going to guess the week of Dec. 24. Winner gets. . . bragging rights! :D
OMG.. he is precious.. the sadness in his eyes!!!, if only they could talk.

Give him a hug from us and a kiss.. like you say.. for now he has a warm dry place to rest his little head...
Val, my thoughts exactly! Elissa won't be taking him to a shelter. He's found a furever with her. I say the announcement will be made the week of December 11.
I agree! Week of November 26th!

What a cutie. His eyes look so sad.
I give her til Dec 1st!!!
LOL I was thinking the same thing as I was reading her post.

How much space can that little guy take up? It is not like bringing home another sheepdog.

My guess will be December 3 (after a second full weekend of realizing he is no trouble).

Can we help name him Elissa?
aww, he's cute. I hope someone takes him!
What a cute old guy. I bet he stays too. Trust me, the 2nd min pin slipped right in at our house  ! I say Dec. 18th at the latest. :D
He is a sweet guy :D :D

And I think he is staying
That was nice of you to take the little thing in!! :)
I Think she has already named him and is out buying him some new clothes.
Just call him an early Christmas present
First thing I thought...this guy has his furever home!
Elissa,

If the rescue cannot take him (I will be very surprised if they don't), then bringing him to a shelter will mean 1 or 2 things.

1-He will be euthanised, as he will not be considered adoptable,
or

2- He will stay at the shelter on a cold floor in a cage until he passes on, because no one will adopt him.

Neither of these is the way that this old guy should go. He doesn't deserve to die cold, alone, traumatized and afraid.

If the Chi rescue can't take him then you can contact some local all-breed rescues to take him in. He is so tiny there would be room for him, and rescues are used to taking in seniors.

If no one can take him in, and you are unable to keep him then I would do the very kind genture of keeping him for a few days and send him off to the bridge....warm and loved. Some things are worse than death.

But.......my bets are on Nov 28th being the day of committment to 4 dogs for Elissa!!
You guys are too much!!

Rags is barking a lot at him. But when she got too close he growls and actually scares her. lol

This morning the "little man" is a bit more relaxed. I realize now that he has a small nubby that he had been clamping down to his body last night. He is also walking better. I think him walking weird was because he was holding down his nubby.

He seems to be very interested in Chili. Just ran after her trying to hump her. Chili took off like a bat out of hell.

He ate well this morning.

I am waiting to hear back from the local rescues today. The California rescue coordinator got back to me last night with the info for a local person.
Nubby? Are you talking about his pee pee maker?
No Stacy, nubby = stub of a tail

Elissa, it's good to hear from you, I thought you had been strangely quiet on the subject!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ginny, I didn't wake up until 9am.
I was up really late last night trying to contact local rescue people. Also I listed him on many, many websites for lost dogs. Even though I am almost 99% positive he was dumped.
Poor PUP!! Stupid people
I'll Take Him!!!!

Seriously, if we can put our heads together and figure out how to fly/or get him him up here, I'd take him in a heartbeat!

Oh Yeah I know I said no more boys, but the two foster kitties are going to an Open House at a Pet Fair tomorrow so the cat coordinator figures they'll be adopted.

Panda misses his former best bud the little Chi.

Marianne and the boys

Come on we need a Chihauhau express!!
That is great! Too bad I'm in the middle of the country.
Really Marianne???

I wonder if there are any nonstop flights from Palm Springs???
Might be cheaper if you flew in and picked him up.

I don't think we have any members in Oregon of Washington.
I know we could get CA covered for transport... if the sheepie people are willing to help. Maybe I could contact the Chihuahua rescue about transport too about Washington and Oregon.

I'll get back to you Marianne!!!

ROTFLMAO

Elissa,

I hope you are able to find someone who will let him retire and lives his last few days. And you are doing a great thing by being his foster home, getting to know him, he's in a loving environment and being with other dogs will also help in his possible transition.

Good luck to Yoda?? Do we have a name yet?
I'm glad we can use clinical terms like this. :D
Elissa was awesome taking in "Little Man" and we were trying to work out some flight arrangements so I could give him a forever home. My house!

However the snowstorm hit and my two foster cats did not get adopted as planned at the open house which was held at a vet clinic. The woman who had said she would take them adopted two kittens instead. So my foster cats are still with me.

From what Elissa told me the Chi rescue in AZ is going to help her out. Lets hope he finds his forever home.

Thanks Elissa for all you did.

:D OMG..I'm a moron!!! Can you tell I haven't had a dog with a tail (oh, Pandy's but hers was long and beautiful!) Maybe I can blame the stinky fumes I was breathing from a new desk Steve pulled out of a box.
It was so cute and innocent...
He looks really sweet. Wonderful thing you are doing. I still can't understand the mentality that can just abandon a living creature.

Stacy, He doesn't have a tail, he has a cropped tail with a stub or..a.k.a nub or nubby. :D

I have been calling him Little Man

Poor Little Man was so cold I had to buy him a shirt.
He is a real sweetie....eating like a champ even without teeth (canned food). He even managed to eat some Cheetos puffs. :)
Little Man adores Billy. He will sit in front of him and cries like a baby to be picked up onto his lap. lol

He will be going into Chihuahua Haven Rescue this weekend and after being neutered and getting shots he will be up for adoption.
He will then get the best possible home.
What good news. The poor little guy, now he will have a 2nd chance.

I love the part about him crying up at Billy to get picked up! :D
So it didn't work out with Chili and Rags...maybe after a good neutering he'll be more subdued.

I like the Chi's that look like Little Man, and I like that he's attached to Billy...that is so sweet. :hearts:

I'm glad he's going to be placed in the Chi rescue, maybe they have someone already lined up???
Thanks Dawn. I am so happy that I was able to facilitate this for him.
He is a sweet litte guy and deserves a good life.

Daisie, No problems with Rags & Chili. They get along great. :) For the most part there is harmony in our house.

About Billy, it is so funny seeing him hold Little Man.
This is from tonight: Billy was cold and couldn't find a hat so he has a bandana on... I told him he looks like a gang member...lol http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v613/ ... lilman.jpg

Chili is very annoyed with the Little Man because he tries to hump her.
I guess she must have been cold last night because she let him share her bed for a little while. Then Chili decided she had had enough and came up on the bed with us. lol
Here are some more pics from the other night. Chili and Little Man were snuggling up against Billy as he was sound asleep on the couch.

They are so cute together. Our 2 min pins do the same thing with me on the couch. Sometimes I fall asleeep on the couch watching TV (OK, OFTEN I fall asleep on the couch watching TV) and Todd always tells me how many of the the 3 little dogs and the cat were perched/snuggled and where they were! Thank goodness he doesn't take pictures  .
Cough cough....you sure you're not going to keep Lil Man?

He looks so happy at your home and with his very own human to sleep with!!

Marianne and the boys
Cough Splutter Ahum, that's what I think too, Billy looks wonderful with him  , he does not eat much, you don't have to walk him, Heck you can carry him around like Paris Hilton in one of those designer hand baggie things.

Still think you should give him a name, still looks like a mini version of Yoda

Anyhow whatever the outcome, I hope he ends up in a wonderful furever home for his older age, he really is a cutie and you are an angel for helping this lil one.

xxLisa
He is cute
Yeah Elissa...what they said...cough cough
Do you know how hard it's been asking if you brought your chihuahuas home from dinner in a doggie bag?????

I'm so happy the little guy has a chance at a new life. Husband melted when I told him the story. He was Lady's protector......the ancient misc terrier the shelter assured me was a sheepdog mix......at < 20 lbs. She only lived a few more months, but they were happy months.
He is a sweetheart ,but is way too small to live in this house.
He has been trampled by Rags, stepped on by Hayley and treated like a stuffed animal by Ryan.

Susan....LMAO
