Dance Dance Revolution

Has anyone tried this game? While Foz and Odin (the husky) played on Sunday at Odin's house, the parents tried out Dance Dance Revolution. It's supposedly a big hit with kids and in arcades. It's a game on Playstation that comes with a big mat. The goal is to hit your foot on the right place on the mat in coordination with the songs and arrows on the screen. It was really fun! I only did two rounds, but my body is KILLING me this week. I had no idea it would have this affect on me. I think I need to buy it in order to stay in shape. I really hate exercise, but it's supposed to be good for my fibromyalgia. Since I used to love to go clubbing and dancing to techno music, this might just be something I'd look forward to doing. There's one caveat...I think Steve would want to play video games all the time. However, maybe I can also get Tetris. I'm worried we'll be addicts. :D

Love love love DDR!!!

Go try it at the arcade sometime. The set-up is much better. It's a big platform with a huge screen instead of a sometime-slippery mat, and you can play against a friend.

I'm terrible at it - can only complete the easier levels, but some of the guys at the arcade are incredible at it. They "cheat" though, by leaning some/half of their body weight on the railing behind the platform so they can move their feet quicker without getting exhausted.

It's a great workout for sure, and tons of fun!
Yes. In public with Mr. J. Most embarrassing moment in my life!

I would love to have it at home, so I could look hip in public.

Don't let your first time on this thing be in public like me. I was just jumping up and down, feet moving all over the place, and I can't imagine what I looked like.
That is a great game! There was a video circulating on the net of a "fat" kid doing it and he rocked!! He then tried to act cool while dismounting the platform and fell flat on his face and actually moved the machine a foot or two. If you've seen the machine, you'll get an idea of how big this kid was but with the fastest feet ever!
OMG 8O I found it!!

Other people working it.

Where I live they have implemented Dance Dance Revolution into the school phys ed programs. At first I thought it was a huge waste of taxpayer dollars, I mean, they've spent a fortune on this and yet I still have to pay for ALL my kids supplies, books, paper, EVERYTHING. However, I suppose it's a good idea if it helps kids enjoy being physically active, and the added benefit is that it apparently helps their memory skills, and to increase attention span.
That's so cool they're using it in schools! At least this video game gets kids moving.

Amazing! 8)
I would have much rather done DDR in phys ed rather than all that other crap. I was never athletic or competative. I was the girl in the back of the baseball field chatting while watching the ball land in front of me. I used to get doctor's notes to get out of running the mile and swimming. I fast walked the mile and ended up with such horrible shin splints that I fell down afterwards. So instead of the mile, I learned how to juggle. I can still sort of do it. Of all things, I did like to play whiffleball in which I could exert the least amount of effort possible in a sport :D

Senior year was sort of cool as I took weight lifting and dance. I always loved to dance, but I'm more of a freestyler. I always look stiff in those choreographed jazz/ballet moves.

I remember being about 4 years old and taking ballet. The instructor kept telling me to point my foot harder. Years later I learned that I have FLAT FEET! No wonder I couldn't point them.

Yuck! Thinking back to all this brings bad memories I'd like to forget.
We have DDR and the boys would hook it up to our big screen TV. We have double mats to there are always competetions happening when the kids have friends over.

One of my son's friends is a huge boy, about 6 foot 2 and must be 260 pounds. He is awsome on it!

I tried it a couple time...on the easy level. Lots of fun....but I suck at it..

Dixie always jumps up and bites the person dancing so she is barred from the room during DDR 8O

My older boy brought it with him to University and one of the firsts nites there he set it up in the lounge and a bunch of kids all played for 6 hours straight.
Wow, check out these two http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qgpadvr0STA

I could never do this.....all I can imagine is me falling flat on my face.
Mind you I used to dance all the time. But I am very clumsy now thanks to The Fibromylagia.
LMAO at the video with the chubby guy. I felt bad for him, but it's hilarious :D
My BIL/SIL have had there's about a year. I am SOOO BAD at it, but it is good fun. My nephew who is 12 is great at it.

They have it in the schools here too now. One of the PE teachers I know was just talking about going to a "training class" for it!
