This person never removed my collar or tag. She became lost? abandoned? (I don't know) and almost a year later I received a call from a nice lady 65 miles away asking if I owned a dog named Emily. I notified the breeder and thought things were taken care of. No, a month later I receive another call and later in the day another call. They say she looked allful, skinney, matted, dirty. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Barbara,
What a wonderful yet horrifying yet troubling story about Emily. While I'm sure that some people will respond on forum.oes.org, our membership is still quite small compared to the OES-List. While I know that this forum is useful, right now we don't have enough members to get you an answer very quickly, so I am going to recommend that you join OES-L e-mailing list. OES-L has 700+ members, about 100 of whom post very frequently. Some of the people there are VERY experienced Sheepie people. Please consider also telling your story there -- I am QUITE sure you will get many responses and you will get them immediately. Many OES Rescue people post there. These people have an interest in helping families overcome problems with their OESs, otherwise they wind up in their Rescue programs. Of course, if a Rescue placement is ultimately what Emily needs, they will be able to help you with that, too. Also, if anyone here has advice for Barbara, please post it here! Unlike the OES-L, this is a PUBLIC forum, where people can search for answers to issues like this without having to join, and without having to repeat questions already answered. Also if someone chooses, they can remain anonymous and still post here. The OES-L can be reached at: http://www.corp-reflection.com/OES-L/ Good luck!!!!, and please let us all know what happens... -Ron. |
I hope you consider contacting your regional OES Rescue group. It doesn't sound as though Emily can co-exist with your other family pets, and she could be placed as an "only dog" in another home.
To find contacts go to: http://neoesr.org/neoesr.htm and select National Rescue Contacts button on the left side of the page. The Rescue folks are very wonderful people. They will do a good job screening prospective homes for Emily and find just the right "forever home" Good luck |
