You Asked for it! The Exploding Puncture Wound

Here's what Clyde's wound looks like a little over a week after it happened. Before you're totally grossed out and thinking this can't be right, the vet said it was normal and that it'll take a couple of weeks for the swelling to subside.

Gross!

Sick!

Remember when I said, wow, it's a good thing that I was home the first time that Clyde's wound spontaneously blew up? Well, now I know what happens when I'm not home because I came home to a bloodbath-- but most of it was on him. Poor guy. I hope this all goes away soon. Despite how disgusting it looks, it does look like it's getting better.

He doesn't. Even when I touch it, he doesn't even flinch. I think it hurts me more than it hurts him. Under the flash of the camera, it seems to look even worse, too. :(
Poor baby it looks so swollen and looks like it would hurt a lot. But I am sure it doesn't really bother us. Now if I had something like that - I would be screaming in pain
Poor guy. I bet it feels heavenly, compared to all the pressure before it popped. :(
The only thing I can think is OUCHHHH! That looks so deep!!!! :(
GROSS all I can think of is OUCH and Cream Cheese 8O

Looks like the type Kelsey had, keep an eye on it, you might need treatment if it closes up and fills up again.

Hugs for the wounded clyde.
Poor Clyde I hope he gets better soon. :hearts:
Holy cow :cow: when you said it was large, i just didnt picture it THAT large.....poor Clyde baby!

So if youre gone all weekend...is James on clean up duty?
That's humongous, POOR CLYDE. I'm glad you're so easy going and not freaked out by that. He's precious. That sucks that had to happen to him. :ghug: Get well Clyde, we're rooting for you.
Yep, that's what Jack's knee pillows look like, except after his burst they were completely open and clear for a day or two before a scab formed over the opening. It was weird, like looking up into a wasp nest with cells in there. Gee, I haven't check it lately, it's been a month or more, surely it has healed by now. Not exactly the same thing as Clyde, but still a yucky hole.

Eeeuuuwww, give me shivers just thinking about Clyde. Poor baby, that looks nasty.
YUCK!!! Just brings back the exploding boob to mind again.
I hope Clyde heals quickly.
YUCK - I hope it heals soon for your sake as well as Clydes.
Wow, that's one NASTY looking wound!! The hole is HUGE!! :twitch: Glad to hear that the vet says it's normal looking, though. Yikes!!
Well, THANK YOU for sharing that :cow:
Jill,

How's the wound doing?
Not as good looking as I'd like it to be. It looks better than the pictures and the swelling is a bit less but it's still angry looking. We haven't had any more drainage. He's still got a few more days of antibiotics so if the swelling isn't down then, I'm going to call the vet and see what she recommends.
Hi,

Yikes! They sure look awful don't they? Merlin was once flanked by two dogs just as we were leaving the offleash park and yelped. It wasn't until I arrived home did I notice the wound on his side. He had staples to allow the wound to drain. That was when he was aprox a year old and now you can't see (of course all that hair!) or even know he was injured previously.

Good luck with your boy and with all the love and tenderness his mom is showing him - I know he'll recouperate soon!
