How to take Barney to work?

Anyone have suggestions as to anything to do to make sure Barney stays calm when I tak ehim to work tomorrow?

I've never taken him before, and I'm just nervous...

How fun! Will he be with you the whole day? I would pack a long-lasting chew toy or frozen stuffed kong plus treats to reward him for sitting, etc. Don't forget a bowl for water too.
I haven't decided how long he'll be here. We usually don't work on weekends, but this is our busy season, so we're working, and I feel bad leaving him home alone all day after having been gone all week all day.

I think I may just bring him in for a few hours and see how he does and then maybe on Sunday bring him in for longer. I don't live that far away so I can run home if I need to.
I would definitely try to exercise him alot before taking him. An extra long walk or time chasing a tennis ball or something.
Whenever I take Yuki somewhere, I keep her meal in a bag. whenever I think something is about to happen that will trigger her to bark or MOVE, I feed her some food. It doesn't matter if 100 cats walk by her, she won't see them, if I'm asking her to sit still for some food.
When I bring panda to work, I pack her bag with water bowl, 7ral treats, rawhide, her baby, and a blanket for her to lay on...
Booze?

for Barney?

or everyone in the office?
Good idea on both parts!

In all seriousness, how many other people will be there? Can he wander around or will he have to be confined. Maybe you could suggest someone else bring their dog and just let them go crazy together!
When I bring the wigglebums in with me, I bring their water bowl & food bowl, treats, everlasting treat balls and a toy. Usually, after the first few minutes of saying hello to everyone, they settle down close to my desk and sleep or chew on their treat ball.
There will be other people around. It is very casual on these long work weekends and a couple of others will be bringing their dogs and they've been dying to meet Barney (I hope he doesn't disappoint!).

He'll have to be fairly confined, I mean, we can walk around together, but I can't let him roam alone.

Treat balls are a good idea. I think once the excitement has worn off he'll be pretty calm. I just hope there isn't any squirting!
there is NO WAY Barney would disappoint a soul!! Panda is jealous that he is going to get soo much attention....
How fun! I'd love to bring my doggies into work!
i bring olive with me to work a lot . toys, and knogs work, but i also like the zen dog treats for a energetic dog. you giv like 3 i think is what the box says and it just mellows her right out. It all natral stuff and i checked with the vet and they said the treats won't hurt her at all. olive just eats them and in like 10 min she just lies down to rest. i wounder if they make her see happy trails or something. i guess it a downer for a dog :?
Just relax with him at work, if you are nervous or anxious about it, the dog senses it and it affects them too. So, relax & enjoy the day and barney will too.

Take a bowl for some water and a few treats & a toy too :D
That sounds like so much fun! :)
Will you be able to take pics?
How'd it go at work this weekend with Barney, Steph? Was he a good boy? :D
He was SUCH a good boy. I brought him and took a quick spin around the edge of the parking lot to get rid of any potential poops, which he did, so that was good. Then brought him in and he was ATTACKED by everyone and he just loved it. He was so excited, but he didn't pee on anyone or anything (his little excitement squirts). And then another girl brought her dog (A Vishlu?) and they romped and we had a mini impromptu play date and they just raced around the grass outside.

I'd actually never seen Barney really interact with another dog before. When we go on walks and meet dogs they sniff, and many of the dogs growl at Barney, so I don't get to see much interaction, and then when we take him to daycare, they take him back and I've never gone in to watch, so it was just SO GREAT to see him play bow and romp with this other dog. Although the people who were standing around watching called Barney 'the fat kid' because he's so hairy and kind of lumbered around compared to the sleek Vishlu.

So that was really great--it wore him out. So he spent some time under my desk and then just cruising around with me for pets. One guy said he was the coolest dog he ever met!

Good Boy Barney!!
Hurrrrraaayyyy for Barney!! Work Mascot!! :go:

Sounds like he had a fun day hanging out with Mom! Very cool, too, that you got to see him play. Now, you'll have to arrange some play dates with his new friend. :cheer:
Yay Barney :cheer: I have no doubt you were a big hit.
