mats behind the ears

Well, as some of you know, Dancer will be going for her first show soon, and I also posted recently about my concerns with the small mats developing behind her ears. The rake works great for any little mats that form on her belly or legs, but I had no luck with it near her ears because it is such a sensitive spot, and it would hurt too much if I pulled hard on the rake there. Sooooo.... I took some kiddie scissors, rounded tip, and snipped away the little mats. I was soooo worried about doing this as I didn't want to wreck her coat for the shows... but it isn't even noticeable. YAY! :D I just hope the judges either can't tell I've snipped a little fur from there, or that they don't care. The comfort of the dog should come first right??? That was the decision I made. Those mats were getting bigger, and I didn't want her to get to the point where they hurt...
I really want her to do well at the show, but hey, she is my baby first... show dog second.
