Not again !??? Skin Problems on our mixed breed baby

Hi all, we are so nervous now... we will be visiting the vet tomorrow am as it is public holiday in Hk today... a few weeks ago Fan Fan our hound-sharpei mix had developed some scabs (2 penny sized, others no bigger than matchheads) on her forehead, arms and lower left thigh which we thought were due to rough-housing with tony or just skin irratation, but last week, some fell off and while there weren't any abnormal bleeding, they have now scabed up again, others are still scabbed after 2 weeks.

Since we have adopted her 2 years ago have always had bad skin issues, and we have invest thousands already on weekly allergy shots and daily meds and thousands in special diets, shampoos and what not.

Concerned the she is healing slower than usual, yesterday we did something we really shouldn't have done prior to any vet visit ... we surfed the net for research... and the topic that got most hits for "DOG/SCAB/SKIN RECURRING" was –

skin cancer from sun burns....

For the past few months wanting to spend more time with "the kids", I convinced my boss to let me work from home half week, so most days I'll just let them hang in the house and roof garden while I worked...

now I feel so guilty, did I let this happen?

We never even gave skin cancer a thought until now... silly us, we didn't even know dogs could get them...We KNOW we shouldn't get so worked up b4 seeing the vet but we are totally worried sick....

please wish us luck tomorrow....

Roy

Best wishes for Fan Fan hope all goes well and it is just a type of skin rash that might just have taken a bit longer to dry up and heal due to the folds in the Sharpei skin. Sharpeis are known for troubled skin problems due to the excessive wrinkles and maybe also living in a humid climate might of just made it a bit harder this time for the sores to heal.

Keeping fingers crossed for fan fan that all will be OK.
got back from the vet... vet suggested biopsy - which we are doing tomorrow...

she hopes that it is skin infection but would not rule out squamous cell or mast cell cancer until the biopsy report (this is gonna be an agonising 2 weeks, they have to ship it to aussie to get it processed)

this is too soon,,,,,,,,,,
I will be praying for good results for Fan Fan.
Keep positive, sending prayers fan fans way.
You should not feel guilty! You were trying your best to give them a good life. I hope everything turns out for the best. I know it's very stressful and hard not to worry. But you don't have bad news yet and hopefully won't. Especially if this is a chronic condition it could just be stubborn skin problems. Kind of like some people can never heal their acne. Maybe the vet was just trying to be thorough, especially if it was a concern you brought to their attention. Hang in there. I am sending you all of my best wishes! And Hugs to Fan Fan.
I was just wondering how she's doing? Hope you're hanging in there OK and no news is good news.
