Daylight Savings Time

Even with all the reminders, I forgot.

I was so upset lil J wouldn't go back to sleep since the clock said 4:00 a.m.

So we went running outside this morning, and my neighbor had to tell me when she was letting her dog out to potty.

Anyone else forget?

Nope but I bet my husband is really confused since I only changed half the clocks in the house.

Upstairs it's 10:00 but downstairs it's only 9:00. Oh the humanity! 8)

That is hilarious, esp. if it's time for lunch/dinner. My tummy gets ready once it reads 5pm, so it would suck if I had to wait another hour.

I'm getting confused even after figuring out what happened. Several of our clocks are automatic, so when I look at the kitchen stove, I think I've missed my favorite show.

Anyway, I guess I should get ready for church.
I didn't forget, but Hayley woke up at as soon as the sun came up, which is now 6 am. :(
This is the first year in a long time that most of Indiana has done DST.
I hate it!!!!!
I think it should be light when I get up and dark when it is bed time, not the other way around.
But I if I had to stay up till 2:00 in the morning making a Halloween costume, it may as well be the day I get an extra hour.
To everyone,

I know you hear it all the time, but would you all do me a favor?

PLEASE go and change your smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector batteries. Please, the forum will be here when you get back, I promise.

If you don't have new batteries on hand, please go to the store and get them. I'll wait.

Please?
Ron,
What a great reminder!!! Thanks for keeping us and our fur babies safe!!
Thanks for the reminder Ron :D

Funny because our mortgage lady sent us a reminder with batteries in the mail a month ago, and I still haven't changed them. Shame on me!
:D :D :D Well, go do it right now, and report back when you've completed the job. :D :D :D

Please?
Luckily our clocks change themselves or else we would have forgotten too.

It was kinda funny this morning. Jason had to work today, and his boss called at 6:30 wondering why he wasn't at work (he goes in at 7:30). The time change almost got him in trouble. ;)
It is almost 4:00 pm here, and Dixie keeps going into the laundry room and back, trying to get me to follow her to where the dog food is kept.

Nobody told the pooches about DST and frankly, I don't think they care. 8O

  I did this, too, after I got up an hour early!
Thanks Ron.
What a great way to remember to do that.
I made Ronnie and Justin change all of ours.

Me too! It's my favorite holiday. Can we find a way to work gifts in? Then it really would be the best day of the year. :)
We just started daylight saving this weekend, yawn an hours sleep lost LOL :P

This is the one where we get an extra hour so it's a happy holiday. ;)
Unless we're thinking of different meanings for the letters DST, I think you have it backwards. We turn to DST in the spring to gain an extra hour of light at the end of the day (Daylight Savings Time). That's when our clocks go forward and we lose an hour's sleep.

What we just changed to was Standard Time. For us on the east coast, we use the letters EST for Eastern Standard Time. Clocks go backward and we get an extra hour's sleep, but we also lose an hour of daylight at the end of the day.

I HATE this time of the year. I work until 5 PM, so I'm driving home in the dark in November, December and most of January.

Did anyone hear that next year we'll be changing to DST in the spring as usual, but then we're never turning it back to standard time again? Seems to me I heard that recently but I haven't verified it yet.
What's Daylight Savings Time?

Here in AZ, we have enough daylight. We keep standard time all year long :D
Chris,
As far as I have heard it is going to start the second week of March next year and ends in the second week of November.
I am very excited that it will start sooner. I also hate this time of year.
It's so depressing that it gets dark so early.
I do wish we had Daylight Savings year round.
Ugh, it was dark at 6:00. I hate that. At the same time, Kayli was sure it was suppertime and I was glared at for an hour until it actually was 7:00.

Ron - my smoke alarm is hard-wired and I changed the battery in my CM detector last month.
You have a Cesar Millan detector? ;)

Sometimes hardwired detectors have battery backups in them in case the electricity is out, you know, like because of a fire?
Be sure to check!

Thanks for the report! Anyone else???
I went to Walmart but couldn't find a 9 volt. I think because of the reminders on the news everyone decided to buy them.
Nope, no battery backup here. I know this for a fact because I keep trying to change the battery and there isn't one. This is the first time I've remembered not to even bother!
You might have a rechargable cadium battery. Mine are hard wired and they battery looks like a very very small hearing aid battery which recharges it self and supposedly last years
I LOVE this time change. I wait for it all year!

I'm not enjoying the part where my kids are waking up at 5:30 in the morning! lol It's nice having them go to sleep at 7:30 though. ;)
I'm walking around like a zombie. Lil J woke up esp. early today. 3:30. What is wrong with this kid?!?!? I couldn't keep him up for the life of me last night, so he did go to bed his normal time (except it was an hour early w/the time change), but 3:30 is so early!
I'm OK, but the dogs aren't. Yesterday dinner time I had to close the door on them for an hour least they eat too early. Then this a.m. I was worried because Harry and Jack run out "first call" and get the neighbor's dogs to join in the song fest.........it was just after 5 a.m........fortunately there was no fest, PHEW!!! Until they adjust to a later hour, they will either have to hold it or go out back, away from the neighbor's dogs.
