Hi and welcome! I'm not from your area, but many on the forum are and will get you the info you need. Feel free to ask questions and learn more about sheepdogs. :D
Welcome to the forum!

I am assuming by adopting you mean taking in a sheepdog that needs to be re-homed. There are always lots of Sheepies that need adopting if you have just a tad of patience! Puppies come up occasionally.

There are lots of rescue folks here on the forum, so I'm sure they'll see your post. You can contact some people from this listing:

But I'd give it a few days, like till next Tuesday or so for everyone to see your post.

If you meant buying a puppy from a breeder, your first stop is with the OESCA Breeder Referral Program...

Again, WELCOME to the forum!
Welcome to the forum, my sister lives in Fredericksburg so maybe she can dog sit for you?? She's used to sheepdogs, for sure! Our sheepdog Frank & I were in a dog show in Fredericksburg in April.
Thanks for all the posts. Yes, we mean we want to buy an OES or adopt from a rescue group. We didn't know it can take time to find a dog and don't really know where to look. We'll definitely check those sites out. We look forward to more info! Thanks!
Welcome! We're in Richmond, but we had our sheepie come from California, so we're not much help with the breeder or rescue referral...but good luck! We love VA sheepies!
Hi everyone-

I just want to let you know that my husband and I have decided that now is not the right time for a sheepdog. We are having children soon and are very busy and we've been advised by a few rescue groups that many OESs have trouble with children and need more than 100% attention. Possibly we'll consider one in the future.

I want to thank you all for your support, this is a great group! Best to all!
I'm glad you were honest enough to realize that now is not a good time to add a sheepie to your life. When the time is right, the dog will appear. Even though you don't plan on a sheepie right now, feel free to hang around here. We're a great bunch and some of us don't have dogs! (like me).
