lump and bumps

I have a 7 year OES with little or no health problems so far. About
1 1/2 years ago, he had a non-cancerous tumor removed from his
back. Just recently, We have noticed at least 5 more such tumors on
his body, some soft and some hard.

We are taking him to the vet but I am curious, is this something
that is particular to the OES. :?

I appreciate any help.

Thanks

June

In my experience, yes, the fatty tumors, or sebacious (sp) cysts are fairly common in sheepdogs and other breeds as well. I don't think they are preventable.

It may be worth having your vet do a thyroid test on the dog since low thyroid contributes to skin problems. The thyroid panel costs about $100. USD, and the best places for evaluating the results are Univ. of Mich. or Dr. Jean Dodds' facility called HemoPet.

Good luck
