MID-WEST SHEEPIEPALOOZA

St. Louis will host a first annual Sheepdog gathering at Nestle-Purina Farms next spring. The event, organized by SheepieMommy (Judi & Harry) and George (Barney & Maggie), is intended to be a day of fun for the dogs and socialization for OES families in Missouri and adjacent states, and hopefully other owners that might be attracted to visit St. Louis and its many attractions next Memorial Day weekend.

Depending on interest, we have reserved the facilities for the 3 day weekend of May 26, 27 & 28. Two fenced areas (7 acres and ½ acre) are adjacent to a covered pavilion where we will have a cookout and potluck dinner. Rally signs, Open and some Agility equipment will be available in the smaller area to challenge the dogs and we are hoping to have a Canine Good Citizen tester there for those interested. Other possible plans include a Dog's day in St. Louis' Forest Park.

Purina Farms is located about 30 miles west of St. Louis off I-44 at exit 253 (Gray Summit). It holds AKC sponsored trials almost every weekend of the year, including Herding, Tracking, Conformation, and Obedience. They also have various animal exhibits and shows for the general public. Dog friendly motels are in close proximity.

At this time please mark your calendar and PM or e-mail Judi or me regarding your interest and any suggestions you may want us to consider that may increase the enjoyment for dogs and owners. To send a PM, search SheepieMommy or George and click on PM. My e-mail is ggarth@sbcglobal.net.

I am trying to compile a list of nearby members, and to date have found 46 in MO and adjacent states; however many member do not list their location and new members will miss this post, so we will repeat it as more details are in place.

Thanks for your interest and, I'm sure, many helpful suggestions. See you all in May.

Wow, that sounds fun. :D
We are a ways away, but the 3 days makes it sound like it would be worth the drive for people.
After checking my calendar - I see I work Memorial Day. :( (every third holiday) I don't know if the weekend itself is free - I would need to count it out. (every third weekend too)
It sounds like a good time, and I've only been to St Louis once. Maybe it's time to look at some trades w/ coworkers!
Dawn,

Love to have you. I'll put you down as possible.
George
Oh yes Dawn please come. It would be a chance for Chewie to do some agility with Harry.
Jil and I are thinking about it, George. Jil looked it up and it's only about 8 1/2 hours from us. Plus, since you're doing it over a whole weekend at a place where we can just let the dogs go nuts when we get there, it would help even out all the time in the car for them! Put us down as a definite maybe!
Harry is getting excited over the prospect of seeing Clyde and Bear!
Don't forget Jil's Bentley! He'd be in on the party, too!
Harry is ecstatic over the thought of Bentley! He loves to play! How will he be able to contain himself for 7 months!
Too fun! I just bought the kids tunnel at IKEA yesterday and they love it here. 4 of the dogs here have done agility classes for fun. Chewie figured it out quick. He even went through it this morning for Breanna (4 yr old granddaughter) when she said Chewie tunnel! I guess I better keep going with him.
This sounds fun, but man - waiting that long!!!
George, Got yur e-mail today and we are already starting to make plans I'll get back with you privately. Murphy and Bella already excited they can't wait to see brother Barney. Lorid :D
Well, we'll have our sheepie by then and it's fairly close. Jake's out of school by then, but that's one of the weekends we're looking at for our Disney World trip. There's 4 families going (us, my parents, ILs, and BIL/SIL), so we're all trying to figure out schedules out right now.
George, how exciting!!!! What a wonderful facility you have. I hope y'all have a great time, and the weather is great!

Good luck, and if you need any advice, please feel free to email me.

Deborah - the mother of SheepieFest!
Thanks, Deborah, hope to see you and some of the Chicago crowd. Can use all the help we can get.

George
Hey George (and Judi), sounds great!! Two of our favorite things all at once: Sheepies and St. Louis!! It's a little too early to know for sure, but if the timing works out, we'll be there! Thanks for organizing this. I've never been out to Purina Farms, that should be nice.
