Not quite a sheepie...

...but still a great family dog. :) We are having Caledonia Day today, and we took the boys to ride ponies, pet the animals in the animal farm, play carnival games, etc.. They were having a lot of fun, and then we came across a booth by the Oktibbeha and Lowndes County Humane Societies. We went over and looked - the boys wanted to play with the puppies. Much to our surprise, we ended up adopting a puppy! :) She's very sweet, playful, and the boys are loving her...a labrador retriever/golden retriever cross. Joy isn't too sure about her yet, and the cats haven't seen her. That should be interesting. She just stole all of our hearts, and we couldn't resist. I don't think the kids would have given us a choice in it anyway! lol We named her Brees (after Drew Brees - QB of the Saints - what can I say? I was outnumbered by having 3 boys in the house, lol) We're still getting Jasper's sister when the time is right for them to come home, but I'm sure Brees will help us with healing after Jasper.

Here's a couple of pics. Please ignore my dirty door - it's been raining all week & the boys have kicked mud onto it. I haven't cleaned it yet since we've been gone all day.

Congratulations Gail! Your boys are so adorable and so is Brees (cute name). I couldn't resist those sweet boys eyes either :D Enjoy your new pup.
She's gorgeous! Congrats to you all. Brees is a cute name.
I am sure they will allow you to name the baby sheepie, when she arrives.
Just tell them they have no say in it, since they name Brees. :D :D
Awwwww....the boys sure do look happy!!! She is a doll!! Cant wait to see more pictures of her.
Aw! That's great!
Congratulations Gail! The boys picked out a perfect puppy.
They all look so happy together!!
Best wishes :D
I'm SO happy you got another dog!!! The pic of your boys and their new doggie is precious!!! They're so adorable.

On the other hand, I'm so sad it's not a sheepie!!!

At least everyone is happy and I know that dog will fit perfectly in your lovely home!
Congrats Gail! :)

Brees is adorable, she looks a lot like one of Abby's pups, the one we called Sitka, and she was renamed by her new owners as Dakota.

Your boys are growing! Such handsome little men :)
Congratulations, both the dog and the boys are adorable :D :D
I'm so glad you have a little one to help fill your lives with love. It looks like the boys love her! She'll grow up a huge part of your life. Congrats - I know it is a big step.

4 more months and we'll be a sheepie family again. :)
Thanks everyone. The boys love her. She has been busy chasing them all around the back yard, and all 3 of them are worn out now...hehe She actually passed out outside in the middle of them playing. Of course, I had to sneak pictures of her napping because she looked too cute. :)
You're getting a sheepie still?!?! Will that be 3 dogs in the house! I'd be in heaven if I were your kids! Maybe I can convince my husband........... j/k

Yeah but Joy is so tiny she only counts as 1/2 a dog...lol
Congrats, three dogs are not that bad I have four. The boys are so cute.

aww, that was sweet. Thanks Marianne.
Thank you for giving a homeless puppy a wonderful, loving home! I'm sure that Bree will brighten up your days as she developes into a happy, well-adjusted family member.

She and the boys will grow up together secure in thier relationship.

Young boys and thier dog...doesn't get much batter than that!

:ghug:
Brees looks like a cutie. A lab/golden should be a nice happy dog and a great playmate for your sheepie puppy. Our Riley is just a year, and a great playmate for Chewie. I know that is part of the reason Chewie is so nice and quiet - he runs off the excess energy and we get a nice, calm (tired) puppy!
Our minpins are little too - we joke they are like 1/2 dogs too - together they weigh only 22 lbs.
Here's a couple of better pics of Brees. You can actually see her face in these. :)

Those are great closeups. Isn't it funny to see that pink collar not fitting around a dog that you know will be able to chew through something like that in a matter of .......days! It almost looks like my cat's collar.
That should be a nice dog.......two good breeds to blend. You are up on your obedience aren't you? They can be a bundle for awhile. This will be a tennis ball dog........that's always fun. The boys have a good dog to grow up with.
That's the kind of collar we had for my border collie when she was a pup - it's nice because they don't have pre-made holes. Sweet puppy!!!
Congratulation's on the puppy, and I am so happy you are still getting the sheepie. It will be fun to watch the big dogs play, they will be close...but it is great you will have one well on her way to housebreaking when the other one comes home.

Yeah, we've already started. :) She gets sit about 75% of the time already. Not too bad since she's only 8 weeks old.

I'm having a hard time with the fact that she's the same age Jasper was when we got him. The size difference is crazy - Jasper was SOO much bigger than she is. I'm sure a lot of that was fluff, but still...

Jo - the collar is tiny. It won't last her a month! :) The humane society were selling them for $3, so it was cheap, fit the purpose for right now, and the proceeds went to them. I'm probably going to order her one of the break-away collars with her name & our phone # on it, the ID tag, and the leash with her name & our phone number deal like I got for Jasper before she outgrows this one. You can get all 3 of them for only $22, I think - shipping included. I just have to remember the website... I'm sure it's in my hundreds of favorites somewhere.

She's about 12-15 pounds. She won't stay on the scale long enough to get a weight and isn't due for a vet visit until next June (hopefully anyway).
Congratulations Gail and Family, adorable and so are the boys. Best wishes to you all and your wonderful new family addition. :D
That's great! I'm glad you guys were able to give him a good home and make everyone happy at the same time.
Congratulations, Gail!! Brees is just TOO adorable, and she looks right at home in the boys' arms!!

Congratulations!!! She is just beautiful, you can tell by the smiles on the boys faces that they love her..
Congrats, Gail!!

Those are the faces of some happy boys!! Brees is adorable!!
